Won't fly faster than 5mph

I just got my Mavic Pro drone back from DJI and now I have (at least) one issue I didn't have before.

Previously, the drone would fly around 22mph in normal mode. Now, it won't go faster than 5 or 6mph.

I've checked the settings, calibrated the joy sticks, tripod mode is OFF, and in sport mode it will still go 30+mph

It just will not go faster than 5 or 6 mph in normal mode.

Also, at low altitude it seems to struggle to maintain consistant height. Reversing will cause it to lose latitude pretty signficiantly and going forward seems to cause it to gain altitude.

Any ideas?

Based on your description of what you're seeing I'd guess you may just need to calibrate the IMU:

DJI Mavic Pro - IMU Calibration

That definitely helped a lot!

It still doesn't quite hover/hold altitude well though. Just hovering it seems to drift around.

Make sure that VPS is enabled and that it has enough light -- and some kind of non-uniform surface below the aircraft -- to keep the Mavic stationary. VPS relies on being able to "see" a pattern that it can use as a reference point to stabilize the aircraft.

Thanks for the info from DroneFlying, if the drone drifts at low altitude, like DroneFlying mentioned, please fly in a place with light and flat ground.
Besides, you can also do a Vision Positioning Calibration via DJI Assistant 2 on the computer.
Here's the tutorial for your reference:

You should also do a compass calibration if you are suffering any instability problems.

With regard to your maximum speed being limited to 5 mph and given that the Mavic isn't set  in tripod mode:
I assume this is happening in close proximity to you and the controller and at low altitude, say less than 15 feet. Have you tried taking it higher and further away (do this in zero wind conditions or check that sport mode still works). I found this happened to me after one of the later firmware updates and assumed something was wrong, and so didn't want to fly too far away in case there was a serious problem. Flying higher and further away reinstated the expected speed in normal mode.

It seems like every time I have to charge the battery, the drone won't fly more than 5-6 mph after replacing it unless I reset the IMU before the flight.

This happens right next to me, 10 feet off the ground OR 1000 feet away 400 feet off the ground and everywhere in between.

Sport mode seems to work fine.

So I guess I just have to recalibrate the IMU before every flight?

Hey has anyone figured this out? I'm having the same issue in normal mode it flys about 5-5.5mph and that's it. Sport mode works great. I've tried calibration of the compass and updating firmware. Any ideas???? I can't find a solution.

I am having the same exact problem with my Inspire 2. It is June 2018 and I'm running the latest firmware. If anybody has any insight I would greatly appreciate any assistance

This sounds like a motor or at least ESC malfunction - I'd return it

Sorry that I can't respond on Inspire. But your question might trigger better informed responses in the Inspire section of the forum: https://forum.dji.com/forum-61-1.html
I hope you can solve the issue soon!

Please note that I do not have my MP with me right now so cannot check this but...

Expo/Gain settings get tweaked on you? Is that what Tripod mode will mess with to make it smoother?

Did you try logging in to DJI after any FW update?

I just don't know if the stick reset would effect those? Hence why I brought it up.

Check flight log to see which mode the drone actually fly on. Also check stick input to see how much it actually read out when you push stick to the end.

check props. If it is not the props, i fear the beginner mode in the software might be the issue . Another software error ...great !!
