First of all, it set off a bunch of firewalls and alerts on my PC. Then it asked about 3 times to "trust" all these things, one being in Chinese. Another alert that had to be "allowed" in the end. It gets installed and wants you to connect and Inspire? I thought this worked with ALL DJI drones?? I have a Phantom 3 Standard. Where is the software assistant for mine? Why does the software also bring up the command prompt?? Very strange. My drone wont even connect to my PC. It keeps connecting and disconnecting. But I still would like to find the correct software. My goal is to factory reset my drone. Please, I'm new to all of this.

     You are right, your Phantom does not use the Assistant 2 software.  Your downloads are at this link;

Upper left is the firmware for the update, on the upper right are the 2 instructions and notes documents and the manual for the P3 Standard.  Give them a read so you can get started.  Then when you have questions, we are here to help.

It's a DJI tool formerly used for tweeking the settings in some of the models. Nowadays most useful if in doubt of how to connect a Inspire to your computer, just in case a Inspire should appear on your property.
Sometimes it can be used to brick you drone with latest firmware. :-)

I would think that a manual was supposed to be found in the Tutorial section but it seem that no one had knowledge enough to write one.

It can be found in the download section of some of the models.

I’m a newbie. I have looked around a bit but unable to determine if I really need the DJI assistant 2. Is it something a newbie should just live without right now?  I have downloaded the executable file to my Mac but I’m afraid to open it after reading about it. Are the tweaks that it performs really worth the download hassles? Or if you do it right, is it something that’s beneficial to the user?

Sir, may I know which drone do you use? If it is the P4 series or later, you can find DJI Assistant 2 in the product page.

I'm afraid that P3 SE does not work with DJI Assistant 2. Generally, we'll list in the Download Section if the unit works with DJI Assistant 2, please kindly note.
