Ever since updating to the latest firmware, I've been getting lots of lag in the video playback on both my iphone 5s and ipad mini 2.

I was reading that turning 'ON' the 'Enable Hardware Decode' function will help this.

Has anyone had any sucess with this?

Thanks.

Tech support told me to do this as well. I guess it helped?

The hardware decoder is really for the iPad Air2 with the A8 processor.  The other processors do not need this enabled.

Thanks Gennacide and Tahoe_Ed for getting back to me. I flew with it on yesterday and seemed to be a lot more fluid and less choppy than before. I'll be airborne this weekend, and I plan to do multiple tests.

Keep you posted

I was getting unacceptable quality with iPad mini 2 on my first flights until I turned on 'enable hardware decode' (and dropped the image transmission quality down as well) and now its all good.

Why have it on?  The iPad mini 2 has a A7 chip.

like I said, I changed two settings, so it may do nothing (but from what I've read on forums the hardware decoding setting is for iPad, so I just assumed it was for the graphics processor or something.  I could be wrong and its just the reduced image transmission quality that helped my problem.  I'll try it both ways

If you are using any iPad you should turn it on.

I've used it on an iPhone 6 and an iPad Air 2 - both A8 powered. Noticeable improvement in video latency with the setting on.

Funny, I have an Ipad Air2 and have always had the Hardware decoder switched off, after reading some posts from July, last year.  I've had zero issues with it off.

I'm using the Ipad Mini 2 and after the last updates'm serious lag issues and freeze the image.

I have the hardware decode option enabled, fly mode on, disabled video cache and still is very poor.

On my phone One Plus One does not have this problem.
