Some background:

Yesterday my Matrice 100 flew away and crashed at the beginning of an autonomous flight using a 3rd party mission planner app. I have flown this drone with this app many times. Winds were calm and the sky was clear. The drone took off autonomously, then deviated from the flight plan and flew away at a high speed. Manual input on the RC, which had a green connection light, did not appear to effect the drone. I recovered the drone, which was lightly damaged.
The issue:

I connected the drone to DJI Go to pull logs. The top status banner in DJI Go is yellow and reads 'GPS Course Error'. This error remains while outside with a strong lock of many GPS satellites. It remains after multiple restarts, and remains while flying the drone manually. The drone holds position in P-GPS mode while the 'GPS Course Error' message is displayed.

I have never seen this warning before and a few minutes of searching on the internet turned up nothing. Has anyone here seen this before? What does it mean?

Still trying to fly carrrefully with DJI Go app only in gps mode.

I just got the same error , the only fact i noticed is that i upgraded my Remote Command 2 days ago as i was proposed when opening DJI GO
then i got this error.

The M100 was not airborne but was just on (without propeller) as i just aimed to calibrate the X5 camera.
Not sure this is a possible cause.
Drone can fly with DJI GO in GPS mose but i don't want to test an autopilot fly due to above update.

GPS Course Error:  Updated (but not yet solved)
The error  is  not linked to my camera X5:
    - I try with a zenmue X3 and got the same error. So, even if I was not able to update my zenMuse X5 with the July firmware release, it seems not link to this update.
The error is not due to the GPS component:
     - For the investigation, I replace the GPS component (antenna + cable) with a functionnal one (from a DJI A2 subset currently running on a DJI S900). Still the same error.

I also have this Error (GPS Course Error) , in DJI Go App , so far i have tried updating all firmware to latest . and also tried downgrading  to firmware V01.02.00.80 .. no difference so went back to V01.03.01.00
My setup is with the X3 camera + guidance , it makes no difference if guidance is installed or not , also tried disabling guidance mode in dgi Go  app, Error message still persists .

We have experienced this same thing on multiple Matrice 100's within our company.

The final solution to make this error goes away has to do with the DJI Go version you are running. Within version 3.1.10 we see this GPS Lock error as a status on all devices. When we switch to a tablet with version 3.1.8 running for the DJI GO app the status goes back to normal.

Thank you for that info , i was able to download DJI Go V3.1.8 from APKMirror.com and that fixed the problem. I am wondering if you have switched back to this version for all your devices , or do you find that that there is no problem using 3.1.10 with the error message present ?

We did fly with the error and still had GPS lock and seemed to read the bearing correctly. But it would not allow us to fly in the 3rd party PrecisionFlight for DJI app when this status was present.

I did downgrade as well DJI GO from APKPure.com  to 3.1.8  and did not yet test outside, internally i get a different message (even in GPS mode)  that i am in Atti mode.
Just a beside question , did you upgrade RC after DJI GO upgrade (my RC version is 1.9.2 as upgarde was requested and i could not downgrade to 1.8 after using the different proposed methods)?

My RC is also at 1.9.2 , and i havn't been able to downgrade it either . I also get the Atti mode message in GPS mode , but it goes away as soon as i get 8 or more sat's , and the green Ready to Go (GPS) message comes up along with a message that the Home point has been recorded . I also have not tried outside yet , but should be able to get out this weekend with it. Fingers Crossed

Is anyone using Apple IOS devices have this problem too ? or is just on the android version .

Test successful yesterday with  DJI GO  to 3.1.8 (the one before the last one) and RC at 1.9.2 (RC looks not possible to downgrade).
Still need to upgrade camera with an Inspire 1

Are you using an Android device? This is a false warning in Android APP, we are aware of it and will fix it in the next APP version. You can try to use the iOS APP which does not have this issue.

Hi, i have been fliying  the bird with an ipad with this same COMPASS ERROR COURSE, now the ERROR is gone, but still in the andriod devices.

Just updated DJI Go to 3.1.11 and looks like they fixed the error message , will do test flight this weekend .

What type of tablet did you use?

Sometimes you just have to update the App. Glad you were able to do so.
