Hi All, just want to have a collective check if anyone had issues with the new update and Spark falling as its been awhile since the update was released.Make sure all the batteries are updated as well.

Below is current firmware (based on what i see):

• Aircraft Firmware: V 01.00.0500
• Remote Controller Firmware: V 01.00.0300
• DJI GO 4 App iOS：V 4.1.5
• DJI GO 4 App Android：V 4.1.5
  

mine hasn't fallen suddenly... im beginning to get bored of it not falling...

No falls.  I remain concerned, but Spark keeps flying great.

No falling one spark on .100 / .300 and another on .300 / .500 for this very reason testing things out both are great

Having Spark .... Never fall in love (with other drone) again.

I first did this kind of poll long time ago to see how many falls, the percentage is very low, and nobody really care about that thread.
Few weeks ago, I saw guy made the similar Poll, still the percentage of falling is low.
Again, I think the issue definitely down to Spark quality issue where you got some bad products sold out.

Mavic and Phantom having kind of the same falling issue, but it is not as noisy as Spark because more Spark sold than Mavic/ Phantom.
Let's take example  DJI has this kind of ratio for (bad product/Product sold) = 1/10.
Then Spark got 10/100, and Mavic got 1/10. The ratio is the same, but more Spark sold means more bad quality sold, and more noisy in the community. I think that's it.

mine fell twice but luckily survived the fall. the descent was gradual and blades were still rotating, but i had no control over the drone. Now i will try with the OTG cable. Will update here if it happens again.

Was the drone turned off when you pick it up? Or for some reason it lose altitude and just eased to the ground? I noticed that happens to me sometimes and i push it back up. Never hit the ground though.

Yes, i participated in that as well, but want to see if any issues arise now.

From my point of view, 2 things to point out, either the update fixed it OR DJI realise what it was and newer batches are made with the rectifications ( i mean long before, like first batch made in Jan and newer batch made in July).

Just my 2 cents.

Hmm ... 1/10? Too high. I guess less than 1%

No falls for me, having great fun with it when weather allows (UK).

That is just an example....

Mine fell this weekend from 100m :/ Rotors booted up mid-air and helped drone not to be smashed to pieces. If it would happen higher, it would maybe recover from the falling completely.

Dang thats scary. Maybe the update they did do something or are getting closer to the issues. The poll seem to indicate the issue is still there and want to inform others (including myself) to fly very cautiously.

I just found out that my Spark was manufactured in May - so it must be one of the first batches of Sparks. People who have falling Sparks sending them to DJI to get a unit replacement.

Mine was manufactured late June. Hmm, not that far...

mine was manufactured in may and i have had no falls yet.

That's probably a good idea

One case falling that manufactured in May might not be the good indicated.let's wait for some more input

i would be surprised if there weren't twice as many Mavis's sold as there are spark, waiting list for Mavic's for the first 4 months was 8 weeks , spark was straight out the door on release.

There are easily 10x as many Mavics and probably even more than that P4/4a/4Ps out there as there are SPARKS... This forum and the SPARK represent only a small fraction of DJI sales even at the lower price point.... The SPARK probably is selling faster, but its only been out a couple of months. It will take some time, if ever, to catch the others in overall numbers

Well I don't know what the numbers are your probably a lot nearer to it than me, but i did see somewhere that Mavic is dii's biggest selling drone.

With the Mavic's one year birthday in October, what problems did it have in its first months of release?  I understand Spark and Mavic operate on different systems but were any falling from the sky or flying away because of firmware problems? Are those concerns relevant  to current Mavic owners?

Hi birdbefore you know Mavic was such a big release I know it took dji by surprise it had so many new users it was Christmas and anything and everything that could go wrong did , I would say around here on the forum it was absolutely the most interesting time and I believe in that time I learned the most about all the things that could go wrong and did go wrong with drones, for some it was disastrous for new flyers it was a huge learning curve. But now I see Mavic has turned out to be a great craft yes there are still some problems but on the hole it really is a great drone. And I think dji will make spark a great drone too.

Thanks for your insight Hallmark. For my purposes, the Spark ticks all the boxes. I'm sure it will be a great drone once all the kinks are worked out. Haven't pulled the trigger on buying my Spark just yet.

So far, im enjoying my spark alot . I am very careful though and look around first in case anything goes wrong, i can retrieve it. Now im learning how to use active track and do people video shoot for a friends upcoming wedding just for fun helping her out, while im learning and giving them (hopefully) a great wedding gift XD

No FALLs!... More then 200km!... I just love it!...

My Spark just completely shut off and dropped like a stone. Everything was up to date, fully charged, and flying normally for about one minute before it fell.

No falls yet. Pretty solid performance with very little lag or connection issues.

SO, how do you find out when the units where produced, spark and battery? What about the number of hours the units have been run before the fall, total.
I have updated all of my items, but have few hours on them or dist.

dji CS still investigate all my files and after fallen into Lake around 30m

Updated Spark in China on 7/29/2017 to .0500. Fly 14 times in China without problem. Crashed (mid-air power loss) in the US after returning from China.

Mine also never fell

unfortunately guys and gals... my spark died at my feet.. RIP.. bunch of errors while i was out thousands of feet away.  i had ton of flight zone errors, NFZ errors, SD card errors, battery over discharge errors, battery temp error (cold) battery temp error (hot), battery error (no discription but lost all communication with battery, no time remaining or percentage), RC signal lost, command timed out, no feedback from anything...... and never regained connection... after being extremely upset, confused and a bit angry.. 3 minutes later, still nothing on screen no feedback, the spark landed instantly rebooted then died completely.. just..stopped working.. all 3 of my batteries got same results, spark, died at my feet...

i put my spark back in the mail to return to amazon, last spark im getting myself until the second generation spark.  only if second gen spark has actual worthwhile upgrades like 25 minute battery, occusync or at least better wireless, and fix the damn camera software...   im going to be buying mavic pro when amazon refunds me...i know mavic pro has its issues, but its a more mature platform and most of the issues are figured out either by updates from DJi or by the community understanding things better....
