A fun part of drone ownership is doing something slick and interesting with the footage that you generate then sharing it with friends and family.  I'm planning on using Premier pro to edit partly because I have access to it and secondly because it will be good to get better with it as I could be using it for work more than I do.

But where to source background music? I'm aware that youtube/facebook are getting hotter at detecting use of copyrighted music on upload and either muting or taking down the content (or reporting to the copright holder) so the vast majority of what I would normally listen to and would use by preference is out of the question. What royalty free source do you use for your little edits?

As an aside I note the little simple 'editor built into DJI GO allows you to use your phone's locally stored music for backgrounds to Spark footage. Odd that they have allowed that if what I have heard/read is true given that the Spark is really marketed for generating footage for social media and youtube making it a bit pointless. Or is the situation in reality for non comercial users making small edits of their holidays seen by a tiny number of people not as bleak I think it is?

I find YouTube are much better nowadays, they permit music but take the royalties of any "views" your video may earn,

You can check each song using Youtubes check facility here, sometimes the search is poor at finding tunes but nearly everything is listed.

Otherwise use something like Purple Music - http://www.purple-planet.com/

Thanks - that Youtube link is really useful. I might upload a test one to see how invasive the ads are but I'm assuming its the ones that act like a banner over the top of the bottom of the video that you can click on the corner of to make disappear.

Between their site and the YouTube library, I've never had any issues.

I'd second that! Epidemic Sound has a LOT of music and a good search engine. But one thing you have to know: you can only use the music in your YouTube videos as long as you have an active Epidemic Sound subscription. If you cancel that your existing videos are safe but you can't use it on new videos. Something to remember.
