Overview
  • Aircraft Firmware: V 01.00.0600
  • Remote Controller Firmware: V 01.00.0400
  • DJI GO 4 App iOS: V 4.1.7
  • DJI GO 4 App Android: V 4.1.5.3

What’s New?
  • Added support for DJI Goggles.

    QuickShots in some regions.
  • Optimized PalmLaunch.
  • Optimized battery management to improve stability.
  • Fixed an occasional issue where the remote controller wouldn’t function normally after updating firmware.

Notes:
  • This firmware update includes new battery firmware. Make sure to insert each of your batteries into the

Hi!

Great news! Does it support wireless connection for Goggles or the OTA cable is still required? Is it still limited to 720p as it was before?

No mention of connection improvement like: OTG support, manual wifi band selection (2.4/5.8) or more stable 5.8GHz?
Also still missing an option for 16:9 photo...

If connection to the goggles is by OTG, then maybe that means it is now supported to use OTG and is fixed, we shall see.

"This firmware update includes new battery firmware. Make sure to insert each of your batteries into the

Check DJI GO 4 to ensure updating completes successfully."

Can you please provide some additional detail in the instructions for this procedure?
Is there a separate download between the DJI GO 4 App and the aircraft for every battery?
Or does the aircraft update the battery itself when it sees a new battery?

Updated the aircraft using the Go APP, flew a battery off no problem, dronie works, not that I ever used it! New battery in, and I get a message, 'Cannot Take Off - Unknown Error:129' - perhaps 'Update Battery' would have been a better message DJI!

Long story short, you have to now update all the batteries to the latest level as the previous battery firmware is incompatible with the new version in the aircraft, before it will let you fly.
You have to do the update using the App the aircraft wont do it its self, so you will need to complete the updates on all of your batteries once the aircraft is updated.

I ended up doing the update using Assistant 2.

Just to confirm I have flown my spark for two batteries worth on the new firmware without issue. It did seem a bit more stable out of the hand. I also tried the dronie mode - much better. It gained much more height before stopping on the money at the distance I told it to - previously it stayed low and carried on for an unlimited distance. I also played with active track in both modes - way more successful than perviously but that just might be a conincidence. Helix also stayed closer for longer but I saw no onscreen control to maximise distance so had to stop it before it got too far from me for the space available.

Interesting that they said "Fixed issues where users cannot set the flight distance, as well as insufficient ascent for Dronie and Helix
QuickShots in some regions.".
I am in the UK (EU) - maybe the folk who had no issue with dronie were elsewhere.

Updated fw okay, then batteries.  Went outside to check flight and the app told me I needed to update the remote, which I did.  Flys great.  Maybe my imagination, but it seems faster.  Also very stable.  I like it!

When inserting a new battery, the app reports a firmware consistency.  Just click on "update" to update the battery firmware (no new download necessary)

He's (probably right). I've been updateing everything (app, AC, RC, all batteries). Only thing I've not done is revert to factory settings.

That done, the 5.8GHz that are used by the syem (either in full Wifi or throught OTG) are not complient with EU rules. Channel useds/ proposed seems to be : 149/153/157/161/165 which should not be used in Europe.

As most phones sold in EU complies with EU rules, their 5.8GHz Wifi will not be able to use those channels, and you cannot fly without OTG.

Maybe I'm still not understanding the issue......

The channel you select in the app is the one being used between the RC and Spark not the RC and phone. Therefore the channels a phone in the EU can access is irrelenvant surely, otg cable or not? Interesting to know about the channels a phone can use in the EU - never looked that up. Maybe that's why the app selects the channels it does - i.e. the ones not being used by phones.

channels use by dji are 145 to 165 ( 5.8) there are not valid in UE , but this issue exist only for android , apple work this channel in UE :

I just went for flying my 4 batteries (trying so) after updating everything and charging them as I've been grounded for 3 weeks.

The fourth battery I tried to fly did not allow me to take off : also it's fully charged and been charged only 11 times, I got a messages :

"cannot take off due to large voltage differnece between cells, contact DJI (...blabla...)"

This is a battery I got from the 2 extras I bought.

2 batteries flew perfectly (flights 1 and 3)

The flight 2 one (one from the fligh more combo) was also fully charged, but the flight was extremly short. I got a real quick low battery warning while 200-250 m away which made me really anxious as I thought I may have loaded the just used one (despite making great care about this). I brought the AC back very quickly, landed it. It was a new battery and not the one I flew just before.
I will get the logs and check that deeper.

Still this battery optimization by DJI in 1.00.600 seems like a battery extra safe usage settings that will lead to many battery exchances I guess...

edit :

flight log for flight 2 : http://www.phantomhelp.com/logviewer/2D54Z7DPXPZTXWYGJMM8/
it show that I started at 48% battery, but I'm 100% sure that I fully charged it right before and that it was displaying 4 leds.
I'm currently recharging this battery (labelled battery 1 for my reference in case I forgot it) and will recheck that asap.

DJI will not admit it but it is because they have found a bug that is critical for the spark to be safe and it would be a liability to allow people to fly without the bug being fixed.

Please take note!

OTG is still not formally supported, but as many have said it still works, however with OTG I only get 2.4ghz.
With wi-fi connection between the ipad and RC , I get the option of choosing 2.4 or 5.8, so maybe it's better to go wi-fi in the short term.

Connecting Spark only with your phone doesn't work as it should in EU. When AC statt it chooses 5.8 band on channels that are not supported therefore invisible for our phones. That's why we have  to reset every time wifi settings by holding power button for 9sec (3 beeps). That means we cannot change any settings. They will not stick if we are forced to reset wifi every time we want to use it with phone only.

that is a fairly nasty cell deviation.. i suggest letting your spark completely run the battery down..just let it sit there until it dies, try to kill it fully so battery LEDs dont even light up and protection has locked you out..  then plug it into charger and leave it until fully charged and stops blinking..
