Just wondering, how many batteries do you guys own for each drone?  I've currently got three for my Phantom.

Using multiple batterys I enjoy just flying around and having more then one battery allows me to have fun with the P4P, I do not have any thing that would make a amazing picture or video so spending most of the time flying around obstacles and trees. Burning through 2 to 4 batteries makes for a fun day. Have fun fly safe

Does anyone have a feel for how many charges a battery will take before end of life?

I currently have 2, which allows me to have 40 mins approx. of flight time, which is good enough for amateur flying

Given the failure rate of these things, and only a six month warranty, I wouldn't stock any more than you plan to use in a day before hitting the charger again.  I don't linger in an area too long to wear out more than two as I've had enough cop interactions by people who call in complaining, "I see a drone, and it's bothering me and my baby/dog/cat/fish/whatever!"

If they sit too long unused, they become dead.  One extra is enough backup for me in case of the dreaded DOA (Dead on Activation) scenario too.  Too many requires a good rotational policy.

I have four batteries. Most of the time, I could easily get away with three but there have been 2-3 occasions where the fourth battery has come in very handy. I also have a 70W car charger but haven't yet had to use this.

My P4P "package" came with three batteries.  But I am thinking about getting a fourth one.  My, how the time goes by when you're having fun.  20 minutes on a battery seems like just a few minutes.
BUT MY QUESTION IS, does anyone know if there is such a thing as flying too long, or the drone overheating if you keep replacing batteries and taking back to the air?

Do you know what the failure rate is?
Also, do you have a picture on the average life span?  I know another here asked about how many charges they'll suffer, but I would like to know time wise regardless of use although I'm sure use plays a huge factor.
Thank You

I have  over 100 charges on my p4 battery and it still works fine. Think some are better than others for some reason.

4 I fly mostly in wide open areas so don't worry about anyone complaining. I rotate the batteries and also run them clear down about every 20th use, as recommended to allow for a deep cycle. My original 2 batteries have well over 100 charges and have no problems, Following the suggested operating instructions will insure the maximum battery life. People who have problems with the batteries and drones are quite often those who don't take the time to read how to take care and properly operate both.

I've read recently that the "Deep cycle" is no longer advised for LiPo batteries.  I saw it on a thread here just the other day - check some of the other posts

I download my logs and look very closely at battery temp.  I don't watch battery temp too much during flight, just a glance now and again.  There is a VERY tight relationship between time in the air and battery temp.  It's about a 45 degree slope up.  More time, the hotter it gets... If you start with a cool enough battery, I have rarely gotten too hot.  (But again, I do watch it)

I think we fried a new battery by not letting it cool before putting it on the charger.

I have 4 batteries.   It's long enough that I have a great time flying.  I don't have a car charger and I am fine with that.  For me, that's plenty of time to get the footage I need.

That is good to know.  I run through batteries back to back to back, and end up sitting around watching our other DJI club members still having flight time.  I want to add more batteries just so I'm not the first one grounded, but want to be sure that the drone itself doesn't overheat from constant use.

3 OEM DJI batteries and 1 counterfeit. The counterfeit only gets used for ground testing, verify and changing aircraft settings. Works out good I can throw the counterfeit in make changes or verify. Take my time, then throw in a fully charged OEM battery.
