Hi team!

When you need more space on your SD card do you format the card or just delete files?

I have done both

always format

In the app, tap the faders under the record button. There is the function SD card format!

I use both, but probably format most often as the function can be easily accessed in DJI Go 4. The option to format also appears at the bottom of the 'Aircraft Status' list.

i allways just delete :-)

I just format as it's faster

Format can give you error messages if your SD card contains bad "sectors"/areas, you'll probably get an error message during the format operation?!
But if you only delete files, you cannot see if your card is defect or not on some areas/sectors. And probably after, you can have som unreadable pictures or movies.

I always format.  Much simpler.

Always and only Format the card in the drone, not computer.

I would recommend to format the SD card in the drone as well.

Always format the card rather than deleting, and do it in the aircraft. DJI have a bunch of hidden folders on the card that get filled up with all sorts of files that may be useful to DJI, but otherwise just fill up your SD card. And the files and folders are hidden, you don't know they are there. A format takes care of all that for you.

Format the card:

  

There are various ways to format SD card:

  

First the normal method to format SD card and

  

Second the formatting SD card suing Disk management, below follow the steps:

  

  
• First connect your SD card to      your Windows computer.
    
• On your PC, click Start >      click on “This PC/My Computer”      and then select “Manage”.
    
• On the left side, click on “Disk      Management”.
    
• Now right click on the      Micro SD card> click on “Format” option> perform a quick      format.

The only right way would be to format it in the aircraft.

I'd suggest to format the SD card in the drone, so that it has appropriate files/folders structure. Also, formatting should help avoid file fragmentation.
