I experienced today an interesting change during a "aircraft disconnected" Situation, flying in OTG mode on 5.8Ghz
I wasn't flying very high (30m) and had ~7-10m trees in about 60m distance, so my L-o-S got a bit blocked at around 200m.
Which resulted in a loss of connection.
And: RC and Aircraft tried to change to 2.4 GHz to reconnect and get me the chance to force an RTH
Minimum the App showed Band change!
Is that normal? How would that work in wifi-only mode?

For the pictures I had to "do it again" b/c of missing to screenshot this.
I just not tried to fly further on, so I don't know, yet, if it would stay longer in 2.4, if needed.
Always after the change to 2.4, it got responsive again and switched back to 5.8 after some seconds

OTG can be a safety feature, I think!

Sorry for the inconvenience and please use Wi-Fi connection as we recommending to use. Avoid flying your aircraft in the hazardous area and ensure that IMU and compass are well calibrated, firmware for both aircraft and remote should be updated. Thank you.

I don’t know that either. But would like to see the questions answered.
My guess is that you are right, and the frequency band flip is an undocumented or unintended bonus when using a cable.

The band changing question is/got answered by observing it in the past month.
I have had, with otg cable, lots of autochanges from 5.8 to 2.4 and so on.

So I am pretty certain that RC and AC are "discussing" the best band and chanel as the connection quality gets down.
Which is really possible only with a otg connection from device to RC, methinks

And probably makes only sence, the change forth and back, under FCC.

Alone for this option, I see a otg cable as a insurance for a better connection!
