I am also asking for feedback on how to do a "TEST" to see how far you can go... do you have spotters in a car, do you fly over a straight road.  What do you folks do to see how far you can go?

3.2kms in CE (europe) over the sea, still full bars with stock antennas. Returned home before i was asked to do so by the app, it was 18 to 20kms wind.

I haven't got the guts to take mine that far yet... Just can't do it

i imagine you can probably push 2- 3 miles each way, the only issue is that lightbridge is so similar to wifi you have to be mindful where you do runs at..  
also to add:  given you fly in such a flat area, pick a open spot to set homepoint at take off.. if you push your phantom too far and break range, you should be ok... it should return back to you. you should be able to regain control of it as it comes back in range and you can cancel RTH or let it finish..

mine is pitiful, 1600 feet. never been able to go past that. at 1000 feet it starts to break up.

Still new, about 1 mile. I used RTH to get it back.  I love this thing.

when i push it past 1000 feet it starts to automatically go into RTH mode, i can override it but the absolute max is 1600 at which point i loose video.

i dont see how people are getting these long distances. i bought rabbit ears to help, it helped in the sense i can go past 1000 feet now without RTH or video loss.
but when i get near 1400 its starts up and around 1500 its time to return it as the video feed cuts in and out too much.

so how are others get the crazy distances? note i'm in the country away from anything that could interfere. no power lines, cell towers or buildings.

47 477ft ( 14.47kms)  roundtrip  CE/2.4Ghz  No VLOS , over field/ forest / wood area , still have about 20% battery life when i land , i will push it a bit more when i source a used battery  for testing .

Ive managed just over 4.5 klms out 9.5 klm round trip with my p4p came home with 20% battery left

Ya, somethings up with that, I easily get 2-2.5K over cities, towns and beaches with no antenna upgrade, recently installed a high gain circular polar range antenna, curious to see what limit it will provide.

P4P+ over ocean, according to Airdata UAV flight log - 11,600m total Kilometrage, (38,056 feet)
Max Distance 5,319m (17,452 feet).
Still had 23% battery on landing.
Inflight Average Wind Speed 8.3mph

I can only get about 400 meters max until I lose video and controller connection.

There is a YouTube video of a bloke who flew 8 kms, P4P, it looks like he was in South Africa , he took off from the hills above his holiday house & landed on his house terrace, if it's true an epic flight.

Yesterday I flew 1,4 km and got weak signal. But I was inside the car because its was very hot, and not poiting the drone. Certainly I'm able to go further.

Because we are safely flying it from far way and have no intentions in causing harm.

Its also against to rules to drive faster than 65MPH on the highways but we all drive faster than that.  Its also a rule to completely stop at a stop sign. I think 90% of us just do a rolling stop.

I recently had my P4P back at DJI due to "Weak RC signal"  A message I was getting at about 6/700mtrs.
DJI would only test it out to 500mtrs & quoted CASA ruling on Line-of-Sight.

Against a nice blue sky, (and we get a goodly number of em) I can see the little beggar at 600+,  but if I take my eyes off it.......  end of story !

Not sure I'd want to go beyond maybe a 1000 mtrs anyway.

Flew the Mavic Pro 6.3 miles round trip on a single charged up battery. Came back with about 11% battery life. I was definitely impressed with that kind of distance.

2.6km in CE and 4km in FCC over flat uninhabited fields, no roads either at a height of 112m landed with 65% battery.

4km in FCC is still pretty darn poor
