Hi, I would like to know if the RC control and vid are combined in same channel?
If not, how is it done? If app says 5.8 does that mean rc and vid are on 2 separate 5.8 channels?
Are the 2 antennas used together or one is vid and one RC?
Or is one 5,8 and other 2.4?

As engineer I am interested in more info.
Thanks

As expected from DJI

When you controlled the drone via RC and DJI GO, choose the 5.8Ghz in the APP, which means  the working frequency between controller and aircraft is 5.8Ghz(both controlling signal and live video), and the working frequency of Controller and mobile device is 2.4Ghz(both controlling signal and live video)

Also, the two antennas worked together.

the spark specially is binding both video and the controller signal into same feed...    the spark basically picks one channel, and one frequency and sticks to it..  both feeds go into same channel/frequency..

the antennas are working together is sort of true, think of the antennas as switching thing.. they switch based on which is currently getting best signal...but they aren't doubling up output power or anything..

Does it make sense to point one forward and the other one up then? Especially when flying close and high?

I the manual there are specific directions as to how to point the antenna's and the RC in relation to the drone.

Found this vid, which goes into antenna best practices and actually mentions antennas in "separate direction" configurations:

As an engineer I was interesting too. I'm tried  to use WiFi analyser to see how it works and got strange result:

That looks strange indeed. To a 'non engineer' at least.

are the 2 RC antenna capable of beamforming ?
What are their gain in both frequencies ?

Are video link and control used both WiFi protocol and the same band?

The only sure thing is that DJI has no idea about Wi-Fi protocol and Chanel and frequency....
