As soon as I start the motors the remote starts beeping.  I'm in P flight mode.

Not enough information to make a suggestion. Are you seeing any warning on the screen?

Agree with Geebax. Please check whether there is any message in DJI GO. Alternatively, you can touch the sticks to check whether it helps.

It's just the reverse sensors noticing that I'm in the way.
