I had similar experience. I ordered the Pro Platinum for a New England vacation I'm leaving for next Monday. I was told that my order was early enough that I'd be in the first batch and that it would ship for sure on the 25th.
Now they are saying mid-October, which is too late for me. I asked whether any shipped to day, but they wouldn't asnwer that question. If the delay were really due to unexpected volume of orders, then some would have shipped. But, then why was I no longer "in the first batch"? Maybe there are technical issues that need to be resolved, which means a ship date is really undetermined.
The reason I called last week was I mated to make sure I still had time to order a different drone--probably a refurbished Mavic Pro. But, now it's probably too late unless I pay premium shipping.
And, the experience is making me think I should avoid DJI--I think they have the best products, but when I pay more than $1K for something, customer commitment is a big deal.
