I am aware of how ridicolous this post might be but for the life of me I can't figure it out. Just using the Mavic for the first time.
I take off from the phone app, the joysticks work properly. up, down, rotation, left, forward, etc..
For some reason the drone never hovers. If I use the 'up' joystick - the drone will keep going up even when not toughing any commands. Only variation to that (altitude-wise) is to pull the joystick down for more than a second, after which the drone will initiate it's landing mode.
I'm pretty sure the drone should hover, stable when idle instead of going up.
how does the number of satellites affect the ability to hover? it really feels like something stupid from my end. I've tried various locations tens of kilometres apart on different days.
by default, instead of hovering stable when idle it gains altitude. unless it's in landing mode.
Make sure your downward sensors are not obstructed and clean of dust and any particles.
Some B-new 1 have a plastic protection on those sensors,;make sure to remove it and also the front OA sensors.

Thank you, all sensors are clear from obstruction or plastic films.
If none of the calibrations fix the problem then upload the flight log (TXT file from your mobile device) to PhantomHelp using these instructions and provide a link to it here and we'll be in a better position to figure out what's happening.

thank you. will have a look at everything and post an update.
Thanks for the replies above, like the users mentioned, please try to calibrate the RC, VPS, and IMU and test again, you can find some tutorials on this page if needed: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0sMNc2SGnM-wD3ZGYj3MAQ
Besides, just the verify, is there any error message on the app? If yes, what is that? BTW, please kindly note that the drone will arise to 1.2 meters then hover if you don't touch the sticks when you use auto takeoff.
Please keep us updated if the problem persists, thank you.

Hello and thank you.
I have calibrated all the aforementioned. Problem is persisting.
I have quickly put together this video as a visual reference of what is happening:
Is it possible it's some kind of mode or setting?
No errors in the GUI.
Will post the flight log as requested as soon as possible.
Had the same problem. Try disabeling VPS and it wil stop auto land .
FW up- and downgrade and IMU calibration did not fix the issue. Mine was repalced,
I'd think if a stick calibration didn't fix her, I'd be calling DJI & get a shipping ticket, send her back or where did you buy it?
Sometimes, the retailer will switch it out for you

It seems like you had mounted third-party accessory on the landing gears, right? Please do not wear it and test again. Thank you.
With or without makes no difference unfortunately.

One question davidet.,
Why are you not using the side cable?
Cables can bring us some problems, mainly the long one's.
I'm checking into other solutions, namely the returning it back element. There are three main things though: I am posting on behalf of a friend's mavic - that's not mine and she will be making the decision. Secondly is I think they got it a while ago and has been boxed ever since. These last flights have been the only ones the aircraft has ever seen. Thirdly, in Malta I think the only proper DJI reseller is Avantech which I'm not sure handles technical issues and customer support. Will look into this.
If so, I suggest sending it back and we will take care of it. You can contact the retailer or send an email to support.eu@dji.com. Will do our best to help.
