Ok, so now it's back to Mavic. I think I have a solution to software problems. 1) hold off until other test it. 2) shut everything down, put it away, and go mow the lawn. Heck, maybe even take a nap. Go back and presto, all good again.

Yeah, update that firmware, because after the aircraft firmware gets to be too stale, it just randomly starts identifying itself as a different aircraft. I guess. Some sort of time bomb DJI builds into the software. Makes perfect sense to me.
This tends to indicate that the RC has not connected to the Mavic or your phone/tablet is not connected to the RC. Normally as soon as the app opens and there is a connection between the phone and RC, it will automatically detect the Mavic RC.
