I have the Mavic Pro, and in the DjiGo app, even though I've connected my mobile device to my drone (it says it's connected), it says I'm "disconnected" in the DJI GO app.  I'd love to be able to try out just using my mobile phone to operate/fly the drone, but so far I'm not able to.  What's the deal?  Am I missing something?  I can connect the RC no problem, in combination with my mobile device - also no problem.
