Hi Guys,

what's your workflow to process 4K/30p h.265 video files and which hardware/software do you use?

I'm having problems rendering (and even reproducing) those files with a fairly good Win10 notebook (i7 6800HQ and GTX980M). Is this normal?

I would really appreciate if you can share some infos and tricks on this matter.

Thanks in advance!

D

I use an i7-7500U, 16Gb RAM and 950M Geforce GTX with a 256Gb SSD and it works quite smoothly. I think my configuration is not very different on your, perhaps there are other things to clean-up on your PC memory, etc. What video editor do you use ?

Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017.

Hm, maybe I should place footage on a ssd, atm the footage is on 5400rpm hard drive.

Do you edit h.265 directly or you decode to some other format and then edit?

Thanks for the info!

Yes, certainly put the footage on an SSD, a 5400 rpm drive is too slow for video editing in almost any application.

Puting footage on a SSD did the trick. Now it's reproducing the video a lot better.

Also, I tried to prerender sequence and it needs 10 mins for a 4gb video to prerender which is fine, I guess.

Thanks guys!

I use Cyberlink and I'm editing directly, it takes about 30 minutes for a 7 Gb at 4K but I gues is because I work directly from the Sd card. Anyway, video playing is always smooth. Glad you finally solved it.

In my opinion, the only professional NLE video editing software that currently can handle 4K H.265 video is Premiere Pro CC. As for rendering 4K H.265, Handbrake will be the best choice, Handbrake encode H.265 easily and optimize the output profile with the best quality and size. However, if care much about encoding efficiency than quality, then you can just have a try at Pavtube Video Converter Ultimate, which offers up to 30x H.265 codec encoding speed as long as you run your computer on Graphic card that supports Nvidia NVENC technology.

For 4K video editing, you might as well try Joyoshare Media Cutter. Such an easy-to-use yet professional video editor can perfectly satisfy you.
