Well The FAA  just announced we can't  fly at these places now.

Independence National Historical Park, Philadelphia, PA
Folsom Dam; Folsom, CA
Glen Canyon Dam; Lake Powell, AZ
Grand Coulee Dam; Grand Coulee, WA
Hoover Dam; Boulder City, NV
Jefferson National Expansion Memorial; St. Louis, MO
Mount Rushmore National Memorial; Keystone, SD
Shasta Dam; Shasta Lake, CA

We have until Oct 5 to fly at those places, though... Also it's within 400 lateral feet, so in and of itself it's not the end of the world. It sets a bad precedent, though.

Is there somewhere you can fly in the US besides the deserts?

i'm not too unhappy about some of those places being off limits like statue of liberty.. as drones become more widespread and more commonly adopted certain places/things we should have some distance restrictions on, there is going to be way too many amateurs trying to get way to close, we dont need to decorate certain monuments with drones.

from what i have read and has been mentioned above its lateral distance of 400 feet so not end of the world, just wish certain places had more dynamic distance, make it more interesting..

Aren't many of those places National Parkland, which is already verboten? Shame about the dams, though.

Move to NL if you want more restrictions. Or even to Canada
