I only have a white field with a red dot & a blue arrow.
Should I not be able to see roads, etc?
Using RC & Samsung S8.

Thanks!

John

You will either need to cache the maps at home before flying or leave cellular/4G running in the background to cache in real time whilst flying - then you can select hybrid, satellite or basic map views. The latter is easier and it wont interfere with the WiFi transmission but will eat up some of your cellular data - though MB's not GB's so worth doing espeically if you're new to flying or flying in an unfamiliar location.

I was on support chat for 4 hours again today trying to
work this out.

I don't mind running data, or cache's, but how do
I get it corrected?

I would be chatting with a tech for a while, then
I would get bumped in the que & have to explain
the problem all over again, and then try to tell
them what the last tech was trying do before
getting interrupted...

Not happy with the Spark experience. Probably
15 hours online since Monday...

Thanks.

Johnny, you can connect your Iphone with Internet and then enter the map and zoom in the place you fly. And the cache map will be saved in your app.

Elektra, Thanks for the response.

First, I am using a Samsung S8. I have clicked into the map
to make it full screen, and tried to pan around to see if I
can find any other features on the map, but I have not been
able to see anything other than the home point & Spark icons.
As I pan around, they obviously move & will move out of the
frame if I pan enough. Does the scale of the map automatically
upate as the Spark flies away from the home point? That
might explain it.

Also, I don't intend to be flying further than line of sight,
common sense, I know, but do I need a map?

Mainly, my question is, with all of the issues with the app's,
fly aways, etc, is a blank map an indicator of bigger issue?
Or does it indicate that I should not fly this drone until
I get the map issue resolved?

And last, I was able to see video on my phone from the
Spark's camera, even though I had to work until Wednesday
until I could get the RC firmware to update, have I passed the
window to be able to purchase DJI Care on this Spark?

Thanks again.

ACW,
What do you mean by "though MB's not GB's"

Thanks,

That will have referred to Megabytes and Gigabytes of data, in otherwords saying not to worry too much about the possibility of using loads of your mobile data allowance.
Ref your map issue, have you tried downloading your regional map? On the DJI Go 4 app home page, top right hand corner, the three lines menu presents you with offline map choices.
I received my Spark two days ago and have spent a huge amount of time trying to configure everything. There really should be better documentation but I'm learning that this is not going to be a straight forward 'out of the box' experience.
Good luck!
