I normally dont upgrade my firmware unless I have to. Anyone know if the latest firmware and app allows you to have an option to select between 2.8ghz or 5.8ghz on the Mavic Pro  just like the Phantom 4 Pro?

I don't believe that the Mavic has the radios or tech to make the jump into the 5.8ghz frequencies.

Page 49 in the manual refers on this pont as well as the  Wi Fi frequency for 5 GHZ. That is more for your mobile device. The remote is at 2.8 GHZ  https://dl.djicdn.com/downloads/ ... ser+Manual+V1.8.pdf

I was following a thread last month on this same forum. There was an option to change or perhaps on an upcoming firmware. Below is a picture I copied from that thread

Why would you want the much reduced range of 5ghz?

Mavic supports operating frequency of 2.4G/5G when connecting with the drone with WiFi, but sometimes it might not support if the mobile device and the radio of your area don't support 5G. If someone has the same case with the thread you mentioned on 5#, then please wait patiently, I had informed to our engineers, they are well aware of this case and will work on it. Sorry for the inconvenience, thanks for your waiting.

Hi Thor,

i actually have the issue on my P4pro where for some reason I could never toggle between 5.8 and 2.4, it is stuck at 5.8 permanently. i never found the reason.

are you saying the mobile device may be responsible for that limit?

thanks

Hmmm..this is interesting, specially in the case of the P4 onwards, would the Area limitation on mobile device to 4G be a limitation to use the better less crowded 5.8Ghz? i thought the 2.4 and 5.8 GHz capability was more to do with the actual capacity of the remote control itself ?

On  my Phantom 4 pro  I can double my range and fly 12000 feet one way on 5.8ghz. On 2.4  I get only half the dstance. The reason I want 5.8 is I am flying in an urban area wth lots of homes, markets, gas statons over busy streets. Too much interference on 2.4 so and 5.8 was better. In FCC(USA) mode 2.4 and 5.8 should be equal. On CE(Europe) 5.8 weaker. Hopefully  I can manually switch to 5.8ghz only on the Mavic

The Mavic can be either controlled by the RC which uses the 2.4GHz bands. Or 'wifi' control (physical switch on Mavic to select which option you want to use) from a tablet or phone using the 2.4 or 5.8 GHz wifi format bands. The wifi is limited to a range of about 80m. The Mavic RC does not support the 5.8GHz frequency bands, whereas the P4 Pro RC does.

There is no WiFi connecting for Phantom 4 Pro. I thought you meant HD transmission settings, right? Could you please provide me with more details about your situation? Pictures or video is highly appreciated.

occusync on the mavic pro uses 2.4Ghz, at the moment no way for occusync to link via 5.8ghz band.  however the mavic does support wifi mode which includes 2.4 and 5.8ghz, but this is so you can use your phone/tablet as a controller, the controller itself doesn't use wifi (802.11 standard), it has its own standard.

P4Pro has 2.4 and 5.8Ghz, but thats is a different system called Lightbridge, which is more similar to wifi than occusync, but still is not wifi.

right, and I was asking about the p4p. From forum and youtube I believe typically you can toggle between 2.4 and 5.8 in the GO 4 app. can you confirm that by any chance? i do not see this option and seem to be stuck on 5.8GHz
thanks

manual says remote controller is 2.400 to 2.4835. I think you can use your phone at 5.8 to control the MC.
