After return from DJI repair for motor mount stress cracks (CAS-926799 dated 31 August 2017), I am experiencing frequent loss of WiFi video and still images on iPhone 6 on the ground and during flight. Sometimes on consecutive flights even after landing and recycling a/c, RC and iPhone. This never occurred previous to this repair.
In all cases I fly in rural and unobstructed countryside, though these fault symptoms have also occurred whilst the RC and a/c were on my desk at home. I ensure that the RC antennae are always pointing in the correct orientation iaw DJI instructions. Also, the fault is not logged as a warning as far as I can determine.
I am beginning to lose confidence that the system will work every time I take off, and therefore as a camera platform, it is not fit for purpose.

Warranty still valid with 4 months to go.

This seems to be a common problem and one which I have yet to see a positive answer as to the cause and how it is fixed from DJI.

The a/c has firmware V1.9.20 installed

The iPhone 6 DJI Go App is V3.1.15


Please advise how this fault can be rectified as it appears to be widespread according to this forum.
Do I return my Phantom 3 Standard to DJI for further investigation before the warranty period expires?

Just to verify, could you still control the drone after losing WiFi signal and was there an error message on the app? If yes, could you please provide me with the screenshot. Besides, since the drone was repaired before, I would suggest refreshing the firmware once again.

Hi, Yes there was a red banner stating loss of signal. The flight control was throughout, perfect as has always been the case (for me!)

It occured when the a/c was only a few feet away and airborne, but also occured at home as I was setting up the camera settings. Interestingly, and when at gome, switching from still to video caused a brief recurrence, then the video recovered to normal?

I have read and noted all the directions DJI give wrt pointing the RC and its antennae in the correct orientation, and I always do that.


Just remembered that when my Ph3 Standard was returned from DJI there was no SD card fitted at all. Whenit was sent to DJI for repair I put in the original 8Gb card it came with. I fitted my normal 64Gb card which I have reformatted. Is that a clue?? If I need to " refresh" the a/c firmware, how do I do it please?

I am sorry, there is not a way to get around that. You would get that prompt until a firmware update is complete.

I flew again today - same loss of video on two occasions out of three. iPhone screen read "No Image Transmission Signal" Pretty obvious when you can't see the camera video image....

Not happy, I have done as DJI have requested to no avail, the fault is still present.

The system is unfit for purpose and I would like a return to DJI to fix the issue please, under the existing warranty.

My Answer:
I can't do a selective firmware update on the Ph3 Std RC other than through the App when prompted by a new release note - can I?
If it can still be done by micro SD card loading the aircraft firmware [.bin] file, please tell me how, as all the DJI videos I can find now show an RC controller with standard USB connection.

I have today updated the DJI GO App, which is, as before, V3.1.15. I did an IMU and Gimbal calibration with the PH3 Std on my desk and once again, the image Transmission failed to grey screen twice during the IMU calibration. The IMU and Gimbal calibrations were both successful according to my iPhone 6 display.

What next DJI??

Sorry, P3S couldn't update the firmware by an SD card actually. So now please provide me with the screenshot of the About on General Settings. When it is not the latest version or version info with -/+ icon means you need to update again, and the app will prompt you to do so. I'll have a check with it if a screenshot could be provided. Then you can also try to re-plug the pin cables of the gimbal.

Hi There, I have checked the gimbal connections as suggested, all seem ok, however I did re-make the grey WiFi Multi Pin Cable connector at the camera gimbal. I will fly later today and am anxious to see what happens this time...
