When I fly over 200 feet and above, the high wind cautionary message pops up randomly. I usually pull the Spark back and land since I'd bit worry about that it'll fly away and not retrievable. Is this something that I should really worry about or it's the norm when operating a drone in general?

Also, does the wind speed reduced in higher altitude in general?

Thanks.

It's a good warning to pay attention to and proceed with caution. But yes it's normal. But I haven't been restricted going any higher or farther.

Wind warnings are set a bit soft on dji aircraft, usually when you fly over 7 m/s they will pop up , just be careful unless you are in a wind that’s moving aircraft around while you have good gps you should be ok . Also by reducing your altitude wind will be lighter.

Wind speed increases in higher altitude in general.

Hi hallmark007, thank you, but the thing is, if I don't have a visual of the craft anymore, due to high attitude, it's hard to gauge if the wind is actually moving the craft around erratically. I supposed that I can rely on the video feed from the phone but not sure if there's a better way to do this.

Well if it’s out of sight and getting wind warnings my advice is to lower craft , better safe than sorry, we are expected to fly VLOS.

I live at 8000 ft/2500m in the Rocky Mountains in the US and don't often see high wind alerts on either my Phantom 3 or Spark.  But when I do see them, I pay attention to them and bring the drone home as quickly as possible.  In the Rockies, we can get very high winds and I've had one situation flying at over 11,500 ft/3400 m where the wind got so high that my Phantom barely had enough power to fight back through the wind to get to my home point.

So, as recommended above, pay attention to this warning.

Just one other thing forgot to mention when flying in windy conditions, always start flight into wind you don’t want to be returning into a strong wind it can really slow your craft down.
