Ahhh Italy, a place I will never forget, she will always have a piece of my heart (and my stomach!). Beautiful views from the skies above Italy from my DJI Phantom 3 drone.

What a joy to visit the winding roads of the Amalfi coast, the sun rising over Tuscany or the colourful houses of the Cinque Terre and all from above Italy with the DJI Phantom 3 drone

Thank you for spending the time to watch my video, I do really appreciate every view that I get.

(I know San Marino is not Italy but it is surrounded by it, plus the shots are too good to not put them in the video)

I’m currently touring around Europe in a Motorhome living the vanlife, you can follow me and my artwork at:

Aloha marc,

Nice job.  You do your passion justice.  I first found Cinque Terre on Google Earth before flying Phantoms and thought what a wonderful place and of course it will be a favorite tourist destination.  When I started flying Phantoms there would be an occasional teaser of Cinque Terre on the Forum, but I could never get to see HD video of it. Until now!  Wow, it is more beautiful than I imagined.  Well worth the wait.

Keep up the good work. I am looking forward to more.

Aloha and Drone On!

Thanks Cetacean.

Italy is a really beautiful country and Cinque Terre is the jewel on the coast, you have to visit there. It was always on my list of places to visit.

I'm currently in Norway so this will be my next drone video but I don't know when I'll get time to edit it, I'm so busy it'll probably be in a years time!

The country really is beautiful, a pleasure to drone in. Have you been?

I checked the drone regs online before flying.

sorry but you have violated several rules. Maybe you did not understand the regulation well. You've been lucky, several tourists have been denounced and kidnapped the drone by police for flying in rome (prohibited area!) and cinque terre (natural park, fly is forbidden!)Pay attention before fly in italy!

P.S. Beautiful video!

Not sure if they know.
And if they should care.
We have our own responsibility right?

Yeah, what matters is just an exciting video... safety and respect of the rules don't matter at all. But when the rules are enforced or made stricter, all complain.
In Italy these are the rules (look for section VII-model aircrafts)   http://www.enac.gov.it/repositor ... sue_2_Rev_3_eng.pdf

That seems to be the only matter for some users indeed.
Not sure if he/she did this on purpose, but it is too bad since others will think this is ok (unless they dive into the rules).

hey ... I don’t think that this is the right place where talking about ... but anyway...
as you already know...
This Regulation, as implementing art. 743 of the Italian Navigation Code,
splits remotely piloted aerial vehicles in
Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems and
Model Aircraft
So...
I'm very surprised ... because I still do not understand ...
why do the model airplanes have more freedom than the remotely piloted aircraft?
Have you ever asked yourself this question?
for example :a model aircraft must ask permission to fly over a surface far from homes, people, airports maybe, just for example ... on the sea or green park , mountain . 60mt height and 150mt distant ...?
I think.. that he doesn’t Must ask ... just fly ... with the same DRONE that use a remotely piloted aircraft...
But with some  differents ...
without insurance, without license, certified skill and competence, pre check and more ...
so ... this is a just a example ... and I'm not sure if I can explain so good ...
but at the moment ... in Italy there are so many mistake about rules done ...
and thats why , I still don’t like ...
something will change soon with the new european regolamentations ... and at the moment ... look like in better ...
it’s my opinion , the Drone activity should be a new chance of work and recreativity time  ...
and pushed to improve , for sure safety and privacy ...
but trying to do it without thinking the that drone like maleficent drone ...
there are more dangerous and legal things in Italy

The video is truly beautiful and I personally envy you a lot for it!

BUT... I have to say that  you violated practically all the italian rules to make it and I am disappointed. We struggle every day with the strict rules we have here and videos like your do only risk to make them more strict. If I try to do the same, I will probably get my drone taken by police with a huge fine on top of that. It's true that our rules do not make really sense, I have to agree on this, but they are like this at the moment and we have to deal with them. Such behavior is not helping us in improving them.

Sorry for being so frank, hope you understand.

This Regulation, as implementing art. 743 of the Italian Navigation Code,

Alex, I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to say here…
You say: "why do the model airplanes have more freedom than the remotely piloted aircraft?"

This simply is not true. They don't have more freedom than the licensed commercial operators (and why should they, anyway?).

Model airplanes pilots (and this includes amateurs who fly drones for leisure)  are in fact more restricted than  the professional ones. True, they are "free" from all the bureocracy involved in getting a licence (including a medical assessment), and asking specific authorizations for flying for certain kinds of jobs and in specific circumstances and locations, but in fact the amateurs are much more limited in when and where they can fly. They are bound by an altitude limit of 70  meters and a distance of 200 meters, have you noticed?  They cannot fly  over urban  agglomerates etc. etc. …, and they cannot get a payment from what they shoot (heck, how will the GdF enforce this???).

I agree that the ENAC rules are difficult to read,  but the part about model airplanes is pretty simple.
BTW, the reason why there are so different rules for the very same drones is simple. The rules are not made for the drones, they are made for the pilots… What matters is one's reasons for using the drone. The same already happens in other EU countries.

Hi
I read rules  and even more than once ..
I am perfectly aware of the limits imposed ... both for model aircraft and for aircraft ....

there are also many limitations for aircraft ... especially flying over people ...
both for professional operators and for amateurs ...
(too difficult to get a permit to perform an aerial shot from the drone during a sporting event)

I know the rules ... and I also know who wrote them ...

obviously they were written before the modern drones were released ...

my point of view ... the drone has been badly seen ...
I mean, many professional operators have seen the drone as a possible competitor (much cheaper) in their business ...

this is, for my point of view, the motivation for which so many restrictive laws have been issued in Italy for professional operators ...

with these rules I do not agree ... SIMPLE ;-)

I do not care about other people for what they do ... (or what they say)
respect the freedom of others ...
and in respect of this, I wish the others do the same with me ...

of course you will find some of my videos where I was flying where I could not ...
(sometimes I got the permissions )

but you will never find someone who can complain or who has been disturbed for this ... never for sure ...

in Italy I can find many other more dangerous and legal activities ...

but I repeat again, this is not the place to discuss it ...

I liked video of this guy,   he was good ... and I hope he learned something ...

the laws will not will change  for this or similar videos ...

behind it there will always be commercial interests ...
where the drone producers, the insurance associations and some good lawyer, will find a happy agreement ...
and where we will pay the consequences
