Turning off Wifi and Bluetooth via Control Center of your iOS11 device doesn't stop them completely!Airdrop, Airplay, Apple Pencil, Apple Watch and Locations stay active, a complete turn off still has to be done via Settings.

Its annoying, I also put my apple watch on airplane mode too.

Thanks for your sharing. Airplane mode is also an effective way to turn them off.

By default Airplane mode still turns them off - if you enable Wifi in Airplane mode it will remember this for next time you enter Airplane mode (handy when you want everything off except wifi for flying) - https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT204234
