Well as someone who lives in EU I have found with 2.4ghz I can get 600 metres without to much difficulty. I can only get 250 metres with 5.8 ghz. I have tried OTG and can’t get anymore using it. So try 2.4ghz see if this makes any difference. You are supposed to be limited to 500metres  with CE in Europe.

Thanks for the replies above, it is always a good way to ask for help in the forum coz there are a lot of professional pilots here.
If the drone disconnected a lot, please help to confirm if all the drone and RC's firmware are up to date. Make sure that there is no other WiFi interference around, Bluetooth also affects it, please shut it down during the flight.  Distance should be greater than height during flight, and please make sure the remote controller’s antennas are positioned parallel to and are pointed towards the aircraft. Still, use a mobile device with a strong performance.

2.4 is better in terms of wave propagation than 5.8, so more received power reaches farther.
This may be mitigated, however, by the fact that in countries where the 5.8 spectrum is open to the public - it's generally much less used than the 2.4 one. Also, the available bandwidth in 5.8 is wider (2.4 has 50MHz bandwidth; in 5.8, DJI uses 80MHz bandwidth).
The combination of these two things - more users on narrower bandwidth - means 2.4 has more potential to suffer from interference.
So to sum it up: if you're out in the field where other wireless users are scarce, 2.4 should perform better and help you fly farther. In a more crowded environment where there are many wireless users, it is not so unequivocal.

All of this is, of course, assuming the transmitted power from the source is the same in both frequencies; In some countries, the allowed transmit power on 5.8 may be higher - and if the margin is big enough, it could reverse the outcome.

Specifically regarding you - you live in Greece, which I assume follows the Euro regulation (CE). Therefore, assuming the same level of external interference from other users, 2.4 should perform better.

yes i live in Greece (CE is being followed) and were i fly there are no other drones flying. I will try the 2.4 though to see if it makes any difference

i have concidered all the above mentioned. No bluetooth and wifi interferes, no other users too. i am using an iphone 6s which i consider is a decent device.

If the conditions are all good, but the controlling distance is very short, I will recommend exporting your flight records and contact a tech support to start a data analysis, we can help to check if it is a hardware issue. You can contact us on this page: http://www.dji.com/support.

Updated. Here's the news from our engineers. We had read your data, since you are located in CE area, and you are flying the drone in 5.8GHz, it means the max transmission distance will be 300 meters when you fly it in unobstructed, free of interference place. So it is a good condition when you flew it for about 200 meters. You can try to switch the operating frequency to 2.4GHz which will be able to fly further, and please also pay attention to the WiFi settings, avoid flying the drone in a strong interference area. Thank you.

The question is - how to easily switch to 2.4? I tried it several times today. After changing it in DJI App4 it lost connection to RC entirely. I had to reset RC to connect to DJI App 4 again. My phone can't find RC frequency of 2.4.
I've Samsung A5 2016 and Nougat 7.0

Some of the Android device doesn't support 5.8GHz frequency. In this circumstance, if you change the WiFi on the app to 2.4GHz, it means you change the transmission frequency to 2.4GHz, then the WiFi that the RC launch will be forced to 5.8GHz, so if the mobile device doesn't support 5.8, it can not find the RC's WiFi. So this relates to the mobile device. If your mobile device support 5.8GHz, please wait for a while after switching the frequency until the RC blinks green.

The drone will automatically select the best channel when it is initiated. You can try switching to 2.4GHz manually.

I have reached about 700m in 5.8 here in Spain, flying in an unobstructed area very wide and no interference of any kind, have not tried to fly in 2.4 in the same spot yet, but someone told me here in the forum that they where able to reach further distances than 1km in CE...so i might try it next time i go to the same spot. Also the OTG cable is not supported as mentioned before in the thread, i bought one with my fly more combo cause i thought it worked, and then found out it was useless...maybe in the future it will work.

May I know what mobile device are you using? Then please also help to name the drone's firmware version. Besides, could you reproduce the situation when you are not flying, I mean the frequency will automatically switch back to 2.4GHz, if yes, it would be great if you could provide me with a video which contains this case. Thank you so much.

connect AC and RC first, then switch to 2.4GHz in DJI GO. after switching, don't forget to scroll down and select a channel! Use the one with the shortest green bar. If you don't choose a channel, nothing will happen! The AC will then restart, your screen will turn black and  after rebootig, you're connected at 2.4GHz.

Hope that helps,
Flip.
