Hello

This is my first post on this forum. I have had my Spark for a few weeks now and fly it  at least once a week, ie every weekend. ( I live in a no fly zone so I have to drive somewhere so it can only be on the weekend)

Anyway I will be travelling for upto 6 weeks soon and will be leaving the Spark behind. Am I going to have any trouble with the batteries if they are not used for so long?

Thanks in advance

No, they will start self-discharging after 10 days down to approx. 60% and happily wait for your return.

Like 2# mentioned, the battery will automatically discharge, you can refer to page 27 of the manual, but please don't store the battery when it is empty, and leave the batteries in a cool dry place. Do a fully discharge and charge every 3 months.

The batteries will start to get warm too when they discharge to 65% and ten days is quite a while to leave them fully charged - most advise no more than 3 or 4 days. I would fly the drone and discharge the batteries yourself to 45% before your trip, leave them to cool for ten minutes then store them knowing that they won't auto discharge whilst in storage. I would also not recommend leaving any of the batteries in the drone just to be safe and as advised, keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Fully recharge them to 100% upon your return (or the night before you intent to use them next) and I'd also recommend discharging the RC too if you have one - many overlook the fact that the remote also has a LiPo and should not be left fully charged for prolonged periods - take that down to around 65%. Everything should be fine when you get back but start the drone up at home and ensure no firmware updates are pending before you head out again with the Spark.

There is actually some information regarding battery storage you may be interested in checking out. You can find that information here: https://dl.djicdn.com/downloads/ ... delines_V1.2_EN.pdf

Yeah, you should probably send them to me to look after. I'll treat them real nice.

India actually

I asked airlines about taking it on board and got such garbled answers I thought I wouldn't risk a fairly recent purchase

I've taken my Spark all over Asia from the EU no issues in the cabin , always in my backpack.

Yes I would have thought that the battery is too small in capacity to create any trouble with airlines

But this airline said they allowed drones only in checked baggage which freaked me out- I know that’s unsafe
