An issue with the original Mavic Pro was the ability to film 4k 60fps.  I've seen a variety of comments about how the Platinum includes a change to the camera to allow for smooth 60fps, but I've not seen any confirmation of this fact by DJI.  Can someone from DJI please comment?Apologies if this has already been confirmed/debunked, but couldn't find anything when I searched.

I will follow this thread, this rumor keeps popping up every now and then.
I don't know why DJI would not emphasize this more if it is true.
Maybe because that could be seen as a bug on the original MP but that is very negative thought.

unlikely given got same encoder. it would be very unfair to standard mavic if platium got 4k 60fps and standard doesn't given same encoder hardware and same speed and amount of ram..   not to say it couldnt get 4K 60, technically, both could do 4K 60fps if they both use HEVC and reduced the bitrate.
then other potential issue, i dont know how fast the microSD card system is inside the mavic pro, but im assuming probably around 20MB/Sec, and again, likely the plat has same system for that as well, which would make it hard for sustained 4K 60fps even with HEVC unless bit rate drops dramatically.

i dont know how to test how fast the microSD card reader/writter is inside the mavic but i do know from my own testings my peak speeds have never exceeded 20MB/sec and most of the time its aroudn 15MB/Sec. the card i use outside of the mavic pro in even a USB 2.0 writer/reader acheives atleast 50MB/sec and in usb 3.0 it runs at its rated speed for good amoutn of time, 75MB/Sec before slowing down to 50MB/Sec and staying there once its very hot.. so im thinking the SD card system mavic uses is not that fast..

So we just have to wait for someone to really test this and see if the MPP is any better.

That would be a pretty big deal if it were true, but this is the first I'd heard of it. Out of curiosity, where were the comments that you saw about this?

ya i dont think it has 60fps 4K, that hardware is only now starting to get more accessible and i dont think dji would be that fast to put in such a new system without many hours of testing and abuse to ensure that it is ready and wont self destruct..

An improved camera would be welcomed by  a lot of  owners judging by this survey. I hope DJI are making to do notes! https://forum.dji.com/thread-114137-1-1.html

I saw that 1080/60, too, but I bet it's just an unfounded (or wishful thinking) rumor.

Sir, we have not received any update of the Platinum camera for now. It is the same with Standard Mavic Pro.

Hey there! My first post here so it doesn't let me create a new thread.

I've been researching about that 1080p 60fps rumour in the platinum for a while now.. it's weird that no one has made a real comparison with zooming to see the difference yet.

Actually, the last thing I found was this video that looks smooth as 60fps and doesn't have the typical moire. It also looks like his controller is the mavic one and he claims the fix has come with a software update.

DISCLAIMER: IT DOESN'T LET ME POST LINKS, so search for "DJI Mavic Pro 1080p 60FPS test 2" on youtube :/ The channel name is "Anton Chua"
Anybody can confirm or say if it's a hoax?

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the response. I did already read that post but it seems the video I mentioned is a regular Mavic Pro, bought in october with 1.04.00 firmware... NOT the platinum.

I posted a coment and he answered this: "Hi! I'm using the latest 1.04.00 firmware, supposedly released in September. I bought my Mavic in October so I don't have any reference for how it performed before this."

Does this mean the camera has been fixed in all new units? If that's the case, how can we make sure we don't buy something from an old stock and it has the camera fixed?

He just confirmed it's a regular Mavic, NOT the platinum. So if someone with better eyes than me can confirm this vid is 60fps and it doesn't have moire, it seems the case is closed and all new Mavics will have the camera fixed

I see moire on the fans. Sharpening makes the effect more obvious, so for content that doesn't have/need a lot of sharpening or have much in the way of straight lines, 1080p/60 can look ok.

I can also see the moire in the fans, but I think that's the same yo would have at 1080p 30fps.

Nothing compared to what usually happens with the tree leaves in landscapes in all the other 1080p 60fps videos, where it's an absolute mess and is just incredibly unusable, like in this video:
