Can anyone tell me how to sync my flight data and what benifits will i get from doing so?

The benefit you get is that your flights will be recorded in the dji cloud, you will also see under your avatar you flight mileage.
How to, in you app where you can look at your recorded flights just click on small cloud in top right hand corner this will then ask you to synchronize your flights and then press complete and your done.

Shall I do this with the control panel and the drone connected and all switched on.

No you don’t need to be powered up, just need your monitor you use for flying, your flying mileage also should show up on your avatar automatically if it doesn’t just sign out and then back in and you should be good.

I sync all my flights.  It doesn't REALLY give you anything, and so if you don't do it, nothing bad would happen, but I keep mind synced up...

Agree with 2#. Do you notice the Flight Distance under Hallmark007? You will see the number if you sync the flight records regularly.

Just keep in mind that the mileage they show here is in meters, not feet.
