I have 120M set for a max altitude...I climb Sparky and it stops at 30M and I get the oral message that the maximum altitude is reached.  Beginners mode is not selected. Meters is selected in the settings.  I changed the max altitude to 200M and it still stops at 30M.  Any ideas why?

Are you in any type of no fly or limited flight mode? You also need to make sure that you log into the app.

Are you setting it with aircraft powered up?

are you flying with device only or connected to rc+device?  What version of the GO4 app are you using?  Please provide as much detail as possible so we can help figure out the cause.

thanks

I am in a Class C and I delete that message.  No, the setup is already set before aircraft is powered up.  But I've tried it both ways.

I'm not really in Class C...my flying area borders it.

I have had this happen a lot when using the OTG cable. Apparently setting certain variables while connected via the OTG cable does not work.

My solution was to connect the phone to the RC via WiFi, set the desired max altitude and then "forget" the RC WiFi network and use the OTG cable. Once the desired altitude was set via WiFi it worked, even when flying via the OTG cable.

That is a good work around solution. Thank you for sharing that.

Is my assumption correct that you are using an iOS device with OTG cable? If yes, this problem has been reported at least once already. It should not happen with an Android device though.
And there are other possible reasons for the altitude restriction: https://forum.dji.com/thread-114148-1-1.html

You cannot set it up with aircraft powered off.

I am using an iPhone 6s and RC without cable. I have set the max altitude with the aircraft powered up.  Still stops at 30M...I can't think of what is significant about 30M.  I recently updated the geo whatever update that just came out...is there something in it that will limit max altitude to 30M???

I just turned RC and Spark back on and reset the max altitude to 120...took off, flew up and it stopped at 30M saying "Max altitude is reached" and leaving a message that says max altitude can be changed in controller settings.

Ok, this is then clearly a problem with the iOS version where I unfortunately cannot help because I am not familiar with.

Never had this issue until the last couple of days...flown in US and Europe with no problems...I just thought it might be some setting I inadvertently set.  Only thing new I've done is the geo whatever update that builds walls around restricted areas, etc...I wonder if something was added to Class C (because I get the message I'm in one) that limits max altitude to 30M.

Yes then all you should need to do is land aircraft and leave powered on and change settings. Maybe you can put up some screen shots of settings you done.

Okay...trust me when I say the aircraft and RC were powered up on the ground and 120 was set in the Max Altitude window that gives a range of 20-500M.  I also have Max Distance enabled and 2000 selected there.  RTH is set at 30 and Beginner Mode is disabled.  I takeoff, fly away about 20M, climb up and it stops at 30M.

Yes but what I’m saying is if your limit is 30 metre when you land leave all powered on and take a screenshot does your app still show you 500 metres and distance 2000 metres if it does then there are only 2 other problems 1/ your in beginner mode or 2/ you are not properly signed into your dji account. Which will limit your flight distance to 30 metres high and 50 metre distance.

Bingo!!!!  Once it stopped at 30M I never did go any further away...so I just tried it and my max distance is limited to 50M!!!  Now, how do I properly sign in to my DJI account?  It's never asked me to do this.  I probably did at initial setup but can't remember how to now...thanks so much!!!

Thanks for the replies above, so the issue was resolved, right? Very glad to hear that. If users have a problem with the distance or altitude limits, first, make sure that the drone is not in the limit or No Fly Zone, then check if the Beginner Mode is disabled, and it might also be the log in issue, try to log out and sign in again.

Very interesting. Thanks for this!

A while ago I had a Maximum Distance Reached issue after updating the iOS App, but after reading this it sounds like logout/login might be the right solution.

If your filming away from home don’t forget to log in before you leave, you don’t want to get caught in an area that may not have WiFi.
