Hi P4Pro owners,  I heard on a You Tube clip that it was possible to taking a still image while videoing. I have two questions  1. is this possible with the P4Pro and
2. Does it take a sample of the video eg max 8megapixels with 4K and 2megapixels with 1080p Or/ does it take a separate full size still image of say 18 or 20 megapixels

Yes .. you can but it's like a screenshot from the video rather than a separate full size still image.

Yes, it is possible, here are the image sizes in different video mode.

I have the iPad Pro and get pretty good results shooting in 4K then taking a screen shot on the iPad Pro. Some of my best images are screen shots...

- I don't use 4K all the time so was hoping it was a separate image... and from the specs max image from video will be 8.85 Megapixels which is not what i hoped..
- However it is pretty rare for a camera to take separate still as they mostly pause the video and the only one I know off that takes separate image is Sony 1 inch staked sensor in the RX 100 and Rx10
- hey DJI what about using this sensor??

The P4 pro does use the same sensor as the RX100

I take the screen shots AFTER the video is downloaded to my iPad Pro with excellent results,  taking a screen shot while in flight does result in terrible stills. It’s the easiest method I’ve found for nice fireworks and lightning shots. 8.8 megapixels is more than enough unless you plan on printing a poster...

Maybe your best images are screenshots because that's how you produce images
But a screen shot isn't going to come close to the image quality of something shot as a still.

Aloha GeeDee,

     The P4 Pro will video in 4K and take .jpg photos of 7-8 Megapixels.  It will not take RAW or RAW in combination with .jpg while recording video.  The .jpg photos are separate from the video and are saved separately limiting how fast you can shoot photos with the 4K video being recorded.

     I have only tested 4K and photos.  If you tried lower video resolutions, you might get more 7-8 Megapixel photos in a set period due to faster saves.  But to have video recorded and photos taken and both working well at the same time your device has to be fast and powerful.

I see you have fallen for the megapixel hype, most people print upto 8x10 photos so anything over 8 megapixels is pointless.

R&L ... it's not megapixel hype to say that an 8MP screenshot can't be comparable with a proper 20MP still.
I'm sure your 8MP screengrabs are fabulous for what you want but I'll stick with real photography for mine

If I take a still with phantom 4 pro and then take a screen shot of a 4K video of the exact same object, then I print an 8x10 of each photo the quality is going to be identical. So like I said before, those extra 12 megapixels do not make a difference unless your printing 3 ft.x 4ft. Posters....

I get it ... you like your 8x10 prints
But 8 x 10 prints aren't the highpoint of photography in this world.
A crappy little screenshot is a crappy little screenshot.
You can't enlarge it to any practical size.
You have no room for any cropping and still have something useable.

Look up photography life.com, many good articles explaining about megapixels, exposure setting, etc. I highly recommend reading these articles for newbe’s like yourself so to better understand photography in general. Enjoy!!!

Thanks for the input and discussion all... I find the 4k 8mp grabs not much worse that the 12mp pics on the p3 which seem pretty crappy compared to a point and shoot camera, but was hoping that I could really get to benefit from the 20mp 1 inch sensor on the p4pro with stills whist taking video like oi can on my Sony rx100m4... unfortunately either the sensor is different or DI arn't using it to the max  ... we will see what happens in future i guess

I would say that many who take shots with these cameras will no doubt be blowing up the decent shots for canvas

On a similar note, i wondered why my photos only came in at about 2mb, note to self, take a photo and not a screen grab

Yes Bashy 2mp not much good.. sounds like you are taking a grab from 1080p..if you used 4k at least the 8mo grabs would be closer to 12mp stills

Yeah, i was inj 1080, took a normal still today and it was 33mb
