Hi guys,
Here are my first attempts at flying 150 meters high (the limit in France) on the shots above the forest.
I'm trying learn how to smoothly tilt up the camera but I think the end of the movement is still too abrupt (see attempt around 0'25) how would you guys smoothen it up?

Shot in D-Log ; 1.0.0
Edited and graded in FCPX using color finale

Thanks for watching
Any tips welcome!

Nice work ! did you use any filter to get that color ? or it is not necessary when shooting in D-log?

Hi, I think this is what you're asking about. Within the Go4 app, select the Gimbal menu and go to the advanced settings bit. I've got my Gimbal Pitch speed at 10 and the Gimbal Pitch smoothness at 25. This gives a nice soft stop/ start to your tilt. It works for me.

Yes, I used a ND16. In my experience, log footage has to be over-exposed by at least a full stop but the ND is necessary in order to keep a low shutter speed (for 25fps I stick to 1/50 or 1/60 tops)
As for the color itself, D-log is grey so you need to grade it. You can see a before/after comparison in my previous post: https://forum.dji.com/thread-115826-1-1.html
And thanks

Thanks mate! Yes, that's the part I enjoyed the most. First time I ever flew that far... to the point that trees made me lose the signal. But then my baby did a soft and gentle RTH by itself

Interesting about RTH.  Under the trees, I was thinking that I would have set mine to hover instead of RTH.  How is it that your quad did not go up and hit those trees when you lost contact with your remote?

Oh actually that happened when flying above the forest, not inside it (and I took off from a safe area, the one you see on the second shot). Of course, I wouldn't have risked it under the trees

Great video, I love the color of it. Of you want a more smooth gimbal movement, you can try to adjust the gimbal pitch smoothness on gimbal advance settings. hope it helps.

For smoothing your movement just try find at youtube DJI Mavic Pro Gimbal Setup and all up there and now all you need to do pick one that work with you and do a lot practice.

Thanks! Me too, I have an other view when I fly through it but it's over-exposed and doesn't look so good. I only filmed for a few minutes... before I crashed the Mavic into a tree But thank god I only had to change the propellers

beautiful! on the trail with the leaves fluttering by was magic. I adjusted my gimbal settings recently as well and immediately saw such a difference. Now to get the movement speed of the drone smoother, i tend to find myself slowly getting faster on the lower flyovers or spoiling what i didn't realize was a great shot with a sudden adjustment to my heading. I can only do 90m max height here so i am jealous!

Thanks! I might try backward flying above the forest this weekend -if you're curious, I tried it above the sea during sunset and a bird followed me: https://forum.dji.com/thread-115826-1-1.html -

Thanks man, that's my favorite shot so far! So poetic, such a shame I wasn't very stable when that happened... Same here for the heading but I guess we'll get to tame this bird soon

And what is point of interest?

Point of interest is when you hover over an object you want to film such as  your home or waterfalls, then you record the POI then fly a certain distance away from the object, say 2 hundred feet. You then activate POI and the quad will fly in a perfect circle around the object that your filming. The speed can also be adjusted.....

Superb, just got my Mavic so just a debutant   Live in the Pyrenees and forests still green but starting to change, I was only thinking this morning about nice shots of Autumn here and then saw this post.

Over the last month we have so much sunshine and warmth maybe it has confused nature here a bit.

It's going to get amazing... I'm trying to go to Haute Savoie next week to film the forest
And on friday I had the forest + some fog it was great, look: https://forum.dji.com/thread-117616-1-1.html
