The change avatar setting in not highlighted therefore I cant change mine. Has this something to do with my level, being level 1?

This might have to do with how many points you have.  or, there maybe an other issue that i'm not aware of.

What browser are you using?

Same with Chrome. I ended up using IE.

Same here.  Safari did not work.  Had to use IE and scale down and change the aspect of the photo.

Yeah, really strange they use fash for this.
