Took a trip one morning this week down to Galveston to check out the wreck of the USS Selma, a WW1 auxiliary ship that was later used as a tanker, before suffering damage in an accident and being intentionally sunk near the ship channel North of the island.  I also did some filming of the car ferries and a tanker headed to the gulf.  Enjoy!

Nice footage. How many flights altogether to make this video? What was the furthest distance that you flew from the RC?
Also - I think those are doflins in front of the tanker at 4:55.

Thanks! Yeah they are porpoises, in the footage that I didn't use, you can see them coming from all directions towards the ship.

This was three flights in total, one to the wreck, one chasing the ship, and another for some stills of the wreck and the ferries.  I have an inverter set up in the truck so I can charge on the hub in the field, and was able to do a fourth flight for some stills of the rigs you see at the end of the video.

Furthest from the remote was close to 5000ft, when I caught up to the tanker at about 48xxft.

Yeah, I viewed your video on my 22 inch monitor at full width.  The dolphins swimming in front of the oil tanker was a cool part of your video.

I was using this signal booster on the remote, which while I'm not sure boosts the max distance, but it definitely helps with the signal stability.  Also, being in the US, we get a little better range out of the box with the FCC rules.  it definitely sucked when I was in Europe, you could hardly go very far away without dropping signal, I could only get out to about 500m from the top of a ridge.

Thanks!  It was fun to make, and glad people are liking it.

#Viking-Pilot - It was quite windy, and a little cold, since our first cold front of the fall had just rolled through the day before.  I'm trying to get out to fly at least once a week to be able to have new stuff for IG and youtube.  I've been pretty steady with IG posts but videos for youtube take a bit longer to put together.

Yes....I have these, but really haven't had the opportunity to try them yet.  This weekend though.... :-)

Like I said, they make a noticeable difference in signal stability and therefore increase your maximum practical range of operations.  I think you'll find them worth the $10 spent.

these really help with the distance and signal problems in the EU.

i don't fly without them.
