Hi everyone! I have an Inspire 1 V1 given to me by a relative but I can’t seem to update it to the latest firmware, I have been trying to update it to the latest firmware V01.11.01.50 (X3) but it does not make that usual gimbal sounds when updating. This is also the same firmware I used on one of my Inspire 1 and it does update successfully. Maybe somebody here can help me solve this problem. Thanks in advance.

Here are the firmwares installed:

App.                          3.1.11
Version.                    1.3.00.00+
Camera.                   1.2.1.06+
Remote Controller.   1.5.80

Any DJI reps who can chime in?

OK go to here and download version 1. 9 first then try to update http://www.dji.com/inspire-1/info#downloads

then post the hidden log file from the SD card under the MISC/LOG folder, you will need to enable view of hidden files on your computer to see this, post it here then we can go from there
note you will need to alsu update your RC via the Go app too before it will bind after this update so do the craft then RC

The plus sign would suggest the update has not completely finished, you may have to connect to the internet to complete the process.
This is what DJI Jamie says about it.

"If this happened after a firmware update, it means that the unit registers that there has been an accepted change in firmware. If your mobile device is connected to the internet/ data, please give the Go app 10-15 minutes or so then power cycle the aircraft and RC to reflect the changes in firmware numbers. After that, your unit will show the correct firmware version. Having the plus at the end is not a cause for concern and it will address itself."

I tried it 3 times, every time checking if there is log made and if there is none I formatted again and downloaded firmware again ( 3 times ) but still no logs made. I also set the computer to show all hidden files.

Are you using a MAC or PC to load the Bin File.  If you can use a PC.  Be sure to format ( SD) on the PC as well . make sure only the Bin file is loaded.  After you load the Bin file to the Sd card be sure and look at the SD card and make sure NOTHING else is on there .

Also wonder if you need to load 1.3 first then jump to the other updates. Here is a link to older files .  Also take 5 minutes and read my tips page .  It might give you a clue on what is going wrong .

Ok so here’s the update, finally I updated the AC to 1.11.01.50 by using the x5 camera that I have but the x3 still does not do anything. Can it be that the x3 is defective? Is there anyway to update the x3 without using a SD card? Right now the firmwares are

App.               3.1.11
Version.         1.11.01.50
Camera.        1.2.1.06+
RC.                1.7.80

Any suggestions from DJI mods?

When you try to update the X3 do you get any data at all on the SD card result log ?  If you do please check lines of code 0800 and 1500  and let me know what they say .

Also did you happen to try the X3  camera and  the 1.3 Bin file ?  Just wondering if the Update did not take on the camera  and you may have to load the 1.3 file first and then update to the latest one .

We really need to see the data on the Hidden file if at all possible .

The x3 at minimum does the startup dance  correct ? Can you see video live from it also ?  Might not with the latest update to the AC itself but just wondering.

No, there’s no log on the x3. I tried the firmware 1.3 and also tried the 1.9. I also looked at the hidden files but nothing there too. The camera does its normal dance and I can see video but after about 23 seconds the screen of turns to black then blue then black again with a dji logo.

These goes on and on every 23 seconds.

Please install the X3 on your drone and check if it starts self-checking when you turn on your drone. Did you try another SD card in your X3?

Is there any way to update the firmware without using the AC? Is it possible to use the micro USB on the back of the X3 to update the firmware?

Sorry for the late response. Just back from vacation, you can only update your I1 through SD card. The micro USB on the back is for exporting flight data. If the X3 start self-check, it means that there is nothing wrong with the connection. Can you connect your drone with your app? Any message?

Yes I can connect the drone to my app and I can control the the camera and gimbal too. Only issue is that video gets cut off around  every 27 seconds and a D...DD sound is emitted by the gimbal and video resumes after that. If I record a video it gets cut off by this issue, it seems like the gimbal/camera is rebooting every 27 seconds. Message on the app says to upgrade to latest firmware.

If you failed to update to the latest firmware of X3 many times, I would recommend you send it back for check. When you update your X3, if you hear DDDD, it means that your camera is updating. Please wait and see if it can update successfully, you can check the result from the log in SD card .

D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D. When it’s ready to update.
D.D.D.D.......D.D.D.D........D.D.D.D when it’s updating.
D.DD.....D.DD.....D.DD......D.DD when it’s finished updating.

Did you use the original SD card? Please ensure that your SD card is Class10. Here is the video and you can see if your updating process is correct:

In this case, I would recommend you send it back for check. Something wrong with your X3. Here is the link: http://www.dji.com/support. You can tell me the case number or ticket number and I will check it for you. Hope it can be solved soon.

WITH THE X3 CAMERA :
Can you currently control your AC via the RC ?  Start the motors and what not ?  If you can ,  can you also see the data going to the Go app from the AC  ? altitude speed and settings in general ?  Is everthing working except you get no live video  to the Go app device ??

Also here is a link to view the hidden file , make sure you are foing it corectly and I would love to see it if you can get a  data to load .  If it will not load and you follow all my spidey tips then I think I may know the problem .  Let me know

Have you tried to load version 1.3 to the X3 camera ?  Jsut wondering if the camera never was updated to version 1.3 and is stuck at version  1.2.1.06     Here is the file you will want at the bottom of this link .  Here is link to a 1.3 file , be sure you ONLY LOAD THE BIN FILE TO THE SD CARD . You will see 4 files open up , only 1 is the bin file.  do it just like  when you updated the AC to version 1.11 using the x5.

****If the bin file 1.3 is not the problem then more  than likely you have a fialed "Video Encoder " module on the X3 camera and will need to be sent in. The only glimmer of hope i see is the camera (X3 ) is on very old Fw and may just need to be updated to version 1.3 and then from there to the latest FW and then you should be good to go .  If the 1.3 Bin file will not load and you get no log then more than likely thats the problem .  Cost is about 1 -300 dollars  or you may wish to get one off e bay , seen some pretty good deals lately .

Still no dice, I tried also the other one the 1.02.02.17 but it seems that it’s corrupted or something, I can’t unzip it. Yes I can control the aircraft and data on is transmitted from AC to remote it’s only the video keeps cutting off every 27 seconds.

I ask my uncle what he did to the aircraft, he said that he downgraded the firmware to 1.2.1.06 using firmware from panorobot.com. He said he added a new folder with a folder name of WM610_FW_DEBUG to the SD card together with the firmware 1.2.1.06.

If this does not work and you get no data to the SD card thden more than likely the Camersa will need to go in for repair.

Still no luck. Same thing happens, no gimbal update sounds and no data on SD card. Any idea how much would be the repair cost for it?

Lately this repair has been around 275 USA dollars.  You may want to find a used one on e bay .  You could send it in for an estimate, I think that will still cost about 75 dollars to do that, or if you are lucky they cover it under warranty sometimes depending on what needs to be done .

Please is there a special thumb drive for RC firmware update? I have tried many times times but it appears RC doesn't even read the drive. Any help on what to do?
  

I have the same problem with my inspire 1 too, i updated AC with the latest firmware V1.11.01.50 then remote unable to connect to app and AC. Whn I try to relink the AC to RC i see red/green light flashing very fast on RC. What should I do, any help will be very appriciated.
