I'm going to Thailand for 4 weeks next January. I know I have to register my drone now with the new drone laws. Does anyone have any expierence with this? How much does it cost and how long it will take roughly if done online?

I think they say allow up to 90 days.  The main problem is the insurance requirement, actually finding someone that offers it.

So if the drone is insurance from home I should be covered or do I have to insure it there?

Talk to your insurance company. Mine added coverage for a week in Berlin when I was there flying!
