Well folks !!!! I've finally fixed the issue, the 'air encoder error x04.000000' thingy that kept showing up on the overall status. Unfortunately it appears to have been a software glitch.

Okay here's what I did and the best part about this, it's FREEEE...no no please moderators....no need to hire me.

Yes, it was done with iPhone 7 Plus only, DJI Go 4 App and AC/RC.


These are the steps I took :

1.) Make sure AC/RC/Phone is charged up to 80-100%
2.) I decided to uninstall the DJ-Go 4 then reinstall the App for a fresh start.
3.) Connect the RC to Mobile device then wirelessly of course to AC.
4.) Reactivated/refreshed the FW download to the Phantom Obsidian. (right on the upper right hand corner (3 little lines) of the phone in the App - press for 5 secs and you'll see the firmware options to download).
5.) Download the latest FW.
6.) You'll immediately notice when the photo of the Obsidian pops up (didn't happen before).

Unfortunately, the replacement has the same air encoder issue plus it says gimbal overload. The above steps did NOT fix the encoder error and I did  the auto calibrate on the gimbal which did not help. And before anyone asks, yes the gimbal clamp and the little cardboard shipping thing behind the gimbal were both removed before I powered on the first time. I'm thinking I may have to abandon any hope of getting an Obsidian, buy a white one and put a skin on it.

The one I was testing with previously had a low battery (I forgot to plug it in last night), so I grabbed the one from my Mavic and the Air Encoder message wasn't there. The start screen actually had the Obsidian on it. Too bad the stupid gimbal is still hosed, looking like I need to return it - 3rd times a charm maybe??

Yep, that's exactly what should be noticed upon activation. Did the camera/gimbal appeared banged up right out of box? You'd said the seller shipped a second brand new box/unopened right? I'm sure the seller is probably scratching his head wondering what the heck is happening?

The gimbal looks perfect, both were brand new and had all the protective bits and warning labels plus the boxes were sealed. There was no damage to the box or anything to indicate it had been mishandled. I'm just sorry I found out the air encoder warning wasn't a real issue before I sent the first one back - probably nothing wrong with it.

Look at post #46, that seems to have worked for most folks. All I did was use a different iPad. I'm guessing it was because the Go 4 app had updated to the latest this morning before I tried it.

so basically you just plug in RC/AC, activated and the error was gone? if so wow, that was easy peasey.

This is a false alert of DJI GO4 and irrelevant with the latest firmware, we have noticed this bug and will fix it for the next update.

Nevermind, I packed it up, sent it back and ordered a white one. After sending 2 back, I don't want to try an Obsidian again. Next step will be to order a skin from Decalgirl.

Looks something like this but a bit smaller box and it says 'sport-mode'. I have to clear it out of the screen every time I activate the sport-mode.
