I have own an MP for about 8 months (more than 500 miles of flight distance) and sold it for an MPP and the first thing I have noticed is that the MP is made well compare to the MPP.  I will give the MPP more flight time this weekend.

Are you saying the MP was made better then the MPP?

I've only used the MPP and I'm kinda curious what the MPP lacks compared to the MP.

I believe the craftsmanship is better on the MP from my observation.

On the MP the way it was put everything lined up almost perfectly, I guess being a precision machinist makes me real picky.

So far it's a beast up in the air, especially the camera but I've ran into this 'air encoder error' issue that I'm still looking to get rid of. A pain but it doesn't hinder the copter from taking flight.

I'm going to troubleshoot a few steps this evening to see if that resolves the issue - crossing my fingers .

Mods are also looking into this possible SW issue that hopefully will be resolved with a newer FW. We shall see.

I would have to say it is an objective observation, there are some stuff that I have noticed right away then while removing all the stickies from the AC then again what matters to me might not matter to someone else.  Just my personal opinion comparing the two Mavics.

I bought a MP in January 2017, I sold it in April for other DJI things.  I bought MP again this month and I felt that the quality doesn't feel the same, its hard to put it into words.  So I then thought it was just that I couldn't really remember my original MP, maybe something playing tricks in my mind.  But every now and again, I will notice something and think uhmmmm, that doesn't feel as solid, that doesn't line up like I remember, that feel weak.  It's a weird feeling.  But I love the Mavic and am glad I got a new one again (but not MPP).

That is exactly what I am talking about, but then again I owned this MPP for less than 24 hrs and yet I've noticed it already.  A great flyer so far.  Happy to have a Mavic again.

It's quieter and has about 2-3 more minutes of battery life

Congrats!  I received my MPP yesterday & got it all set up for flight.  My MP will be sold next weekend, so I will compare side by side, and flight comparison.  I have a neighbor that has a sound meter that will hopefully give a decibal comparison.

Yep, I finally fixed the 'air encoder error' message. It was some kind of SW glitch but yeah I was able to get rid of it.  

I fired it up, got the error codes., shut it down, rebooted, still one error, rebooted, no errors-flew like a champ, just like my original MP, but way more peppy.  Throttle response, directional input, spot on.  At night, total darkness, smooth as butter.  The one error was telling me I was in restricted air space, which I’m not, so I called airport, they laughed at me, said do what you like, but stay under 400ft & out of airport area.

Can you show us photos, there no point complaining without showing what you have found wrong with it, I am worried now as I wanted to get the MPP

No photos, just like i said before it is all personal opinion.  When I first got my MP I was like "whao! only $999 for this" and now with the MPP I was like "they charge me how much for this?"  I did fly three batteries worth yesterday and after the initial IMU it flew great and flew it with great confidence like I did with my MP.

I got my MP last year and as soon as I got this MPP I feel the build quality is not as nice/solid as the MP from last year. It's like they just took the MP body and paint it over. The MP felt smooth but this one is full of orange peel of paint, especially the arms. See pictures:

Are you talking about the gritty kind of feeling the paint has? I kinda like that to be honest. And the MPP is practically a painted over MP. It's just the internals that have changed.  

I don't know where all the degradation in build quality is coming from. Maybe it's because I never had an MP to use as baseline.

And the covers (mini usb and memory card covers) don't even match.

I mean if it flies well and doesn't break apart on its own, it's of no concern to me. But either way, there shouldn't be too many people who owned both to make a solid comparison since the upgrade is virtually worthless to exchange an MP for an MPP.

Ok, that is probably the case. Curious if others have the same experience or it is just your MPP.

It is worthless for the people who don't understand electronics as for me I can tell the difference in the electronics between the MP and the MPP.

Kinda sucks if its just been painted. Won't take long to get chipped and turn not so platinum.

To all those that have the MPP I genuinely hope it matches your expectations in relation to the MP. For me I think I will keep my cash in my pocket for now, I just cant help feeling this bird is a stand in model and I really wish DJI had just waited until they had some real bonus additions before launching the MP2 or some other name they wish to give it.

I do like the colour of the MPP though.

I am on the fence @ this 1 (MPP) and I don't think I will get off anytime soon.
I am hoping that the next MP version release will have a better and more robust camera/gimbal assembly.
They can call it "MP Extreme" for all I care.

How about an MP with the camera of the P4P? now that would be the "MP extreme".

That will never happen. It would make it less of an incentive to buy the P4P and the only reason to spend $400 or so would be for the extra sensors and weight.
