I'm really struggling to find good settings to use for filming right on sunset, I either end up with a really over exposed sky or dark grainy areas with very little detail.
I currently shoot in 2.7k D-log +1 -1 -1 and try to keep ISO as close to 100/200 as possible. I alway seem to spend hours trying to make the footage look barely useable on FCP.
Has anyone had any luck shooting right on sunset? Is it even possible with the mavic? Tell me your secrets! :p

I thought your video was quite good. I think you have to accept that any really stunning sunsets you see have had a lot of post processing and it will be up to you as to whether you want to spend the time and effort. The only other thing you can do is experiment with luts and programs that reduce noise.

I may be expecting too much from the Mavic camera, generally I'm happy with the picture quality. I just ordered the Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian so it will be interesting to see how it compares.

I shoot sunsets using the same settings, and an ND filter of course. You did pretty good there bud. Nice grade too!

This was the first shoot I tried with an ND filter (ND4), It definitely helped with the sky over exposure issues, I got the DJI filters and I'm pretty disappointed with the quality (the glass fell out of the ND16 the first time I used it and the 8 is blurry) I think I'll get some polar pro's and play around a bit more with the different filters to see what works.
