My imac 24inch 2008 is not upto work with any video editing software and until i can afford to buy a new upto date model i'm using my Macbook Pro. But the Macbook Pro is struggling to manage with the editing. My question is going to be what video size can i use on the P3P to use on my ipad so i can edit my video's.

I know the K4 24fps is to big to use on the ipad, i will be going out today and try different video size and also different fps speed. When i first bought the P3P the video size that was set  aloude me to use the dji software to edit the video that i just shot and then make a movie with the video, or something like that.

Thanks, I'll try that setting today and let you know how I get on. Is it easy to upload the video on this forum?

You can upload it to the Dropbox or Youtube, then post a link here.

How do I make one video or make one video out of the days shooting as you could have more than one video to make into one .? if this makes any sence.

An idea to keep in mind for later, when you have a little more editing power, is that some video editing software will allow you to do the work on 1080p proxies (made from your 4k footage), and then when the work is done, you simply do the rendering in 4k.

Shoot in 4k and convert your footage to 1080p before you edit with a program like handbrake.

You're talking about using multiple clips to make one video. You would need an editing program like "Windows movie maker" I say this because it's simple and free. Or you would need a higher end program like Sony Vegas or Adobe premier pro.

"Window movie maker" is on my new mini iPad, I should try with using it and get to know how it works. I'm sure my operating systems are good enough to work any up to date editing programs like what you have mentioned.

I wonder whether I could download movie maker on my MacBook Pro as this would be easier to work from. The price of a new iMac is about the same price of a new P4P but I can't afford to buy both.

As long as your workflow consist of just arranging the clips in the order you want them and cutting out the boring parts of footage with some transitions,  WMM will be enough.  I assume you are shooting in color and won't need to make adjustments to brightness and contrast.

Your correct in what my objectives are, just basic adding clips and getting rid of the boring parts and maybe add some music. I've just tried iMovie and its no good, dji create movie is better.

Would WMM go on iMac or MacBook?
In colour and no adjustsments for now anyway, i just want to get the ball rolling on this editing stuff first.

Most of the clips are about 9mins long but only one is 18mins long. I've noticed that when I leave the camera rolling the clips are still only about 9mins long, I don't know whether there is a time lapse with the dji video.

This 24fps 1080 works and I can clip the footage and make little movies with also music added. I'm not sure how to add footage from other clips shot from the same location.

I've took the davinci editing software off my laptop, it's not running properly.

It is not that they are 9 minutes long, it is that they are 4GB in size. This is a file size limitation, the camera splits the files into 4GB sections, in fact many cameras do this.

Here is a link listing a lot of video processing software, much of it free.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_editing_software

Don’t knock iMovie, it is free, works well on your equipment and is very capable. True it is not a software to use for a recut of Ben-Hur or Star Wars remake but it is very capable. The problem with ALL AND EVERY worthwhile video processing software is the learning curve. the best way is to search youTube and spend a lot of time watching the workshops.

4K video is a hell of a lot of data to process, 1080 is a better bet for the sort of equipment most non professionals have. By all means film in 4K then you can make a copy in a lower and more manageable quality. Keep the originals just in case National Geographic or Stephan Spielberg sees something unforgettable.

My MacBook Pro seems like it can handle 4K, but I typically shoot 1080p at 30 frames per second anyway.

iMovie should work well on the MacBook Pro.  You'll benefit from a solid state drive.  Have the power supply plugged in too for added horsepower.  It does take time, but does well for what it is.

Not a lot of difference, 30 frames will allow you to slow the film a little more but not much. If you use 60 frames you will increase your storage requirement but be able to slow down the film a lot.

The MacBook Pro seems to be holding up to the editing of my first movie, I’m uploading my first movie to YouTube and when I know the link I will post it for you all to look at and forwards any advice on how to better my movie making.

What a learning curve, first learning how to fly drones, then movie making and now editing. I couldn’t have done what I’ve done without your help and advice.

Many thanks to you all.

What was the MB size the file if you know .... This is 1 minute long and was just 350mb, and took 10minutes to load up to youtube - its in 4k but not the full original file that was 18GB before its rendered to the correct settings for youtube - made with PremierPro and AfterEffects.
