I seem to have a recurring problem with 'Gimbal Motor Overheat'
Start up Mavic Pro
Start up Controller
Start DJI Go on mobile phone.
Do gimbal Calibration - Successfully

Use 5-way button, send camera down, use 5-way button, send camera up

Use wheel to gently slide camera down, use wheel to gently slide camera up.

It may be possible to repeat this but usually it now:

Send camera down, gets to about 8/10s of the way down and camera stops moving
Nothing (except physically touching the camera) will now return the camera to horizontal
Gimbal Motor over heat comes on and after a while goes off.

Physically move camera to horizontal position and you probably have some control over the camera but anywhere between 6/10s - 8/10s of the way down to vertical the camera will stop moving again. Step and repeat 'Gimbal Overheat/move camera physically' etc. Once cooled down can do Gimbal Cal - sometimes get to 31% and sticks sometimes is a success.

Any thoughts?

Is there any debris like grass or hair binding up any of the gimbal elements? I flew a micro drone in a neighborhood park that ended up with tons of dog hair twisted around the props -- maybe it's something simple like this?

Thank you.
I cannot see anything within the mechanism. I cannot feel any resistance to the motion of the Gimbal.
I guess, as you say, that I need to send it in to be looked at.
Any idea how much it might cost to have those parts looked at and maybe replaced.
(I am totally new to this)

Afraid not. Hopefully someone else will weigh-in. Good luck with it.

Question why are you doing all these steps? Does it behave normally otherwise? Any reason why you are doing the calibration

I go through the Calibration to re-assure myself that it is capable of working correctly at least for a while.
When I then go to use it I encounter the problem as detailed, whereby the camera does not achieve 'looking straight down'.

I think I need to have it looked at professionally.

Thank you all for your input, time to bite the bullet!

Colin, may I know the firmware version you are using with the drone now and is there any impact damage to the drone before? Please update it to the latest version, and help to check if there is any error message on the app. It would be nice if you can upload a video for us to check.
