Hi guys,

Yesterday while flying my Spark I experienced my first flyaway.

Everything was fine when I started it and took off. GPS signal was ok, home point updated, and flew up to around 30m with no issue. Then suddenly the drone stopped following my commands, turned and flew against some nearby rocks, crashing and breaking the gimbal support. From the flying logs it looks like when the drone was very close to the cliff it sent a warning about a "compass error", but at that point it was too late to do anything and it crashed.

It didn't even turned into ATTI mode when losing control.

I read a lot of people talking about sudden flyaways, does this sound like one of those cases?
What's the usual process for these cases? Does DJI cover this as a warranty case?

Thanks!

You should definitely open a case at DJI support and make your flight data available to them.

When the crash happened I was flying with v01.00.0600. I just updated it to v01.00.0701 and managed to export the Black Box data + Flight records from my mobile.

I sent an email to DJI Support, hopefully I'll get an answer soon (they don't support opening repair cases directly from the UAE)

Compass errors seems mainly due to strong magnetic interference. Therefor best way to avoid this is heightening the altitude as much as possible.

Thanks for the follow up. I've sent a request using the "Email" support option.

My case number is 819344, I didn't attach the drone logs as when I sent the request I hadn't downloaded them yet. Now they are uploaded here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ghyxd ... 4WPxaFmEVQbfla?dl=0

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help the support team.
