Hello. Yesterday my NEW Mavic Pro flew away from me.
Last firmware. IPhone 6S.
Moscow.
There was a loss of signals from satellites.
And loss of signal from the controller.
Log attached to the letter.

Wonder what the boffins at DJI will say.

Changed to ATTI mode before failing on you though and then told you to avoid signal block by adjusting the antenna !! were you flying in an area of thick concrete & metal etc. or some other place where signal could be affected?

hey jeepka - did it fly away completely or did you manage to get it back again after it flew away? it seems yr drone was very close to you 26ft, before it flew away. did the wind take it away?

Did you adjust the antennas on the RC for overhead flight?  You were over 400 feet directly overhead, which is the area of LEAST signal unless you reorient the antenna.

What was the environment you were were flying in?  This all looks like major sensor failure or operator error in taking off in an unsafe area.

Very strange, but looks like your AC set the home point when you were flying. Did you waited for the AC to set the Home point before takeoff and got confirmation?  On the other hand, did you ever received any prompt asking to calibrate the compass when opening the app?

My best guess agrees with AGON-Gary.  If the quad is pretty close to just overhead, you need to change the antenna orientation.  It's covered in the manual.

He flew away. I did it for 2 hours, but it was not within the limits of dosage.
He climbed 100 meters and flew away.

I fly many times in this place. This is my job.
I know everything about antennas and angles.
Usually the distance is 120 meters and the height is 200-250
I follow the signal level - always.

Hello.
Answered from support.

«Hello, we have checked the records.
The GPS signal was not completly lost, only weakend.
According to the weather conditions and flight environment together with the procedures of the device, we have calculated the approximate landing position of the unit. (please see enclosed picture / circled area). Also check the trees in the area.
Please look there for the device. Also talk with the local police, if the unit was found and given to them. Also with the "lost and found" office.»

I do not understand:
1 — how the drone could have gone 430 meters from the home point.
2 — why the remote control panel stopped working.
3 — how at a distance of 430 meters I have to completely search the protected territory.

I'm at a loss.

Hi Dji Susan - english has been my primary language for almost 50 years.
It is perfectly acceptable to say "i could feel yr pain".
The saying in english is "i feel yr pain" but saying "I could feel yr pain"seems to mean very much the same thing.
As an english speaking person i really do not understand what the member who attempts to correct u, is in fact trying to say.
On this forum we mostly seem to value you u as a drone specialist who helps us with our problems and we appreciate that.
Your english is way good enough to be understood clearly.
I appreciate also yr effort to learn english since i and many other forum users cannot speak your language and so without yr good english we would not be able to benefit from yr assistance.
ps - expressing sympathy to another person for their loss or sadness is also acceptable in all of the english speaking cultures on earth

Hello.
Answered from support.

Hey Jeepka - i really feel for you. I cannot understand why the drone would fly away on its own.
Yr records show that home point was undated - so why should it fly off to some other place.
Also when the drone is so close to you there should be no signal loss or need to adjust antennae even if yr back is to the drone.
And lastly why would the RC screen go blank - only time this should happen is if u turn the rc off and then in which case the drone should return to home point - not some place 430 meters away.

Can you post the data showing yr stick control movements during this flight?
Keep pressing for answers - do not give up.

there is a pilot on this forum named Dronist - that person is good at analysing data.
If Dronist does not answer yr post then try to ask the DJI staff on this forum how to contact him/her - maybe one of them has Dronist as a friend and can maybe PM him to contact you or to read yr post and perhaps see what info he can provide.

Without wires.

Did you fly close to Red Square? I read that GPS repeaters projecting Vnukovo airport coordinates were installed in the area to discourage drone take off, making it think it is in an NFZ. If you, however, flew into such zone or acquired a lock on the repeater, Mavic would think that it suddenly got teleported to an airport many kilometres away. That would explain "Abnormal GPS Signal" warning. And a fly-away, if it went into RTH due to connection loss and used bogus GPS data for the "return".

More info here:
https://lenta.ru/articles/2016/11/07/gpsoff/

Below is the image from the article, showing the range and coverage of the repeater(s):

The repeaters (spoofers) seem to be mobile and have been seen operational in other areas of Moscow and even in some other Russian cities.

I see, however you may have fallen victim of one of those mobile spoofers:

In any case, loss of GPS, ATTI (or bad ATTI) mode, and loss of connection to the RC is a recipe for disaster. It would be hard to find it - you had a lot of battery power for the drone to fly to a great distance.

I've got a loc8tor tag attached to mine for such an eventuality. At least in theory, one should be able to follow the last known flight path and try to acquire the signal of the beacon.

I had a similar Fly Away experience shortly after getting my Mavic a couple of months ago.

After 13 minutes of flight much in the same area the Mavic warned:
"Active Track flight suspended - entering restricted area" (I was trying Active Track out)
shortly afterward I got:
     "Magnetic Interference - Exit P-mode"
simultaneously the GPS dropped from 5 bars to 0 and the AC went into ATTI mode
The AC then drifts with the wind behind some bushes and is out of sight before I can get a view of it.
For a heart stopping two and a half minutes the Mavic drifts away from me.
Fortunately it then regains GPS - first 2 bars then 30 sec later the full 5 so I hit RTH.

There is no restricted area shown on the maps - either the DJI Flight Restriction Information or NATS Drone Assist (UK) - its open countryside and no transmitters or power lines nearby.

There are a number of possible causes for the loss of your Mavic but without data people are only guessing.

The Airdata info doesn't show anything flying away.
It just ends with the Mavic  350 feet above you.
Airdata isn't much good for investigating a flight incident.

If you want to work out what happened you need to see actual flight data.
Go to http://www.phantomhelp.com/LogViewer/Upload/
Follow the instructions there to upload your flight record.
Come back and post a link to the report it provides.

The sat count was steady at 17-18 from altitude 150 ft.
From 5:05.1, just after you reached 420 ft altitude there's something odd happening with GPS satellites.
The number of sats drops to 4-6 and stays there even when your mavic descends.
From 5:42.1 - 5:54.2 you pulled the left stick down and the Mavic responded to your control and descended to 354 ft.
There is an unusual message at 5:51 - Abnormal compass function or GPS signal detected. Aircraft switched to ATTI mode.
It's unusual because the Mavic has been in atti mode since the sat count dropped.

The flight record ends at 6:00.8 with the Mavic still at 354 ft.
What happened after that?  Why do you say that the Mavic flew away?
Did you see anything?

I tried to put him in Atti mode, but
disappeared (signal + video) from the remote control
Dron did not answer the commands.
After that, he flew to the northeast.
This was confirmed by the interviewed neighbors.

It was already in atti mode - that's just what happens when you do not have enough GPS sats.
In atti mode, the drone has no position holding ability and it will drift on the wind.
It's highly unlikely that it flew away.
Blowing away is a much more likely explanation.

The mystery is why the GPS sat count dropped.
Up at that altitude there should be nothing to block satellite signal.
If there was a problem with the GPS receiver, you would expect sat number to drop to zero.
It's very unusual for the sat number to drop to 5-6 rather than zero.

Hi jeepka just looking at your log and screen view, while it looks like your gps dropped from 17 to 12 to 5, when you look at your screen view you can clearly see in gps bar graph that all lights go out meaning that you had no gps signal at this time and as a result you went auto into Atti mode.

But I suppose as Labroids asked what could have caused this to happen, one thing should be considered is that maybe there was something wrong with your compass causing conflict with your gps signal causing gps to be dropped.
When this normally occurs we first see warning like yaw error compass error etc, I know your compass error came slightly later but you did receive compass error, below is what happens in Mavic when you experience compass error.

Why would a compass error disable GPS?
Orientation (compass data) and position (GPS data) are different but related.
When the Mavic is moving and getting position information from the GPS that tells the Mavic that it is travelling in a different direction from what it's getting from compass data, The Mavic programming can't work with the data conflict.
The solution is to drop data from one source and since the Mavic can't fly without a compass but can without GPS, it's the GPS data that gets dropped.
I would be interested where you took off from if it were possible the area contained any magnetic interference or when you last calibrated your compass.

I'm not an experienced pilot. First of all, I always check the antennas and the signal, calibrate the compass and wait for the green message Ready for the flight.

I do not understand one thing - why the connection with the panel was broken. I could plant a drone in manual mode.

At this place there are no military, power towers, wires - only a field for walking dogs.

my feeling is that Labroides is correct about saying that the drone got blown away whilst in atti mode. The weather forecast in airdata seems to correspond with the end direction yr drone flew away to.
If i was you i would really take some time to go and look at the location that the dji people gave to you as the place where it landed.
However - i am still interested to know what caused the hardware malfunction - why did the rc go blank - if it was not purposefully switched off then this should really not happen on its own.
I am holding thumbs you will still find yr drone - please try to look for it at the place dji suggested - it might be a long shot but surely worth a try.
