So I just sent my inspire off for repair at the recommendation of DJI.

I have noticed some metallic noise in the silver tip motors and upon further inspection I have realized that there is some play in the gap. You can move the rotating part of the motor up and down from the base of the motor and you can visibly see the gap get smaller and larger (1-2mm). This only happens on the silver tip motors. The black tip motors don't have any play at all.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

If you guys have the time, can you please check all your inspire motors and see if there is any play?

Thanks!

Bit of play in mine as well.  Two more than the others.  Keep an eye on them to be safe since there isn't any direct replacements for the stock motors yet.

This is one of the most moving parts on the craft...And moving parts are subject to wear DJI should have info on the life span on these.
because all the proplocks in the world wont stop the motors falling apart in this manor.

One of the motors have this small gap. I noticed that 1 month ago. Also a slightly different noise when hovering close to me . I am planing to change all the motors in 50 hours of use just in case.

Warning ... When checking motors be sure that the gap comes from the motor and not from the loose arms. I am sure that all inspire 1 with at least 5-6,hours of use have loose arms.

I had an issue with the motors on my Phantom 1 which was caused by a buildup of iron filings from the sandy soil that I had been taking off from and landing in. Sand and dust greatly accelerate the wear on the motors so now I carry a small folding table to take off and land from.

This is not a problem of bearings. It is the shaft which is secured bei a ring under the strator and normally screwed in the bell
Of the motor. Nothing to matter about
