HEY GUYS, How was your weekend? Today I'd like to share a really cool tutorial here which amazed me at first sight! Enjoy it and feel free to tell me how you liked it! The following tutorial originates from: BUYYING GUIDE

How to Create a Mirror Effect with Drones

It is fascinating to see surreal worlds in movies such as Doctor Strange, Inception and Upside Down. Cool visual effects like bending reality and mirror worlds are staples of blockbuster movies. Have you ever dreamed of making your own mind-bending world? Well, you don’t need to be a master of post-production to create one.  What you can do with your drone footage can really blow your mind. We have prepared some examples of mirror world done by DJI Creator Rufus Blackwell

First you need to choose the right environment and fly in open areas. After taking off, look around and avoid any obstacles that might lead to collision. It is not recommended to tilt the camera during shooting. Unless you want the world to fold-in on itself, maintain a steady altitude.Push the control sticks gently to prevent sudden and unexpected movement.
Wish it could be easier? Then take advantage of intelligent flight modes: Waypoints, Point of Interest, TapFly etc. They can all help you maintain steady footage.
Once your video is ready, let us guide your way to the mirror world. You don’t need to be a computer graphics guru to create one. Just follow these 5 steps to create one in Adobe Premiere.

Step 1: Import the video
.

Step 2: Go to Effects > Video Effects > Distort.

Step 3: Find Mirror under the Distort menu. Drag Mirror onto the video editing pane.

Step 4: Click Effect Controls and you will find Reflection Center and Reflection Angle etc. Change the Reflection Angle to -90°. Then by changing the value of Reflection Center you can adjust the space between the two worlds.

Step 5: Go to File > Export > Media.

Now with the power of making mirror world at your fingertips, why not create some and share with us on our forum!

I will have to find footage that suits this.
I think areal footage would be a good subject.

Romeotango, you can use any professional video editing program for this, just look for the mirror effect.
This was done with Adobe Premiere...

LOL
You will know when I have bought one.
Still giving DJI some time to add 25fps to Spark. Until I have saved enough for MP or P4A.

You should take a look at my HD...
340 GB of unedited footage waiting....

I got pretty efficient in editing my personal video's (leave all effects out and don't shoot too much footage so I can be ready in no time), but with edits that go online I have (want) to spend much more time....

You really have to plan, and find a suitable motive, visualize it all first in your head, how much mass sticking up above horizon, finding the right altitude and make sure its perfectly aligned in the center of the horizon, so theres room for a 50/50 split.
Tried with something i already had filmed, doesnt look as spectacular as the authors

Really? I wasnt happy with it myself a lack of space between the horizon and the sky... But thanks anyway.

Is it possible to upload that big files directly here then?

I noticed that your video last 30 sec, maybe it is too large here. But there is a way you can try. You could upload it to Youtube and then share the link here, it automatically appears your video!

I agree, the horizon should be more in the lower 3rd of the frame (original footage) to get this look.
But other than that this looks great already!

I started in 2003 with editing and have found some nice habits to speed up the whole process.
1. Shoot just enough footage to tell my story. (when I started my clips were way too long and there was way to much footage that would not make it in the edit)
2. Stop recording as soon as I don't like the shot (so I recognize the files that can be thrown away by their small size)
3. Organize the files in a logical way (in my case I have a batch file that renames them yyyymmdd-hhss so 20171114-1312). That way all footage from my various camera's is sorted chronologically.

If I'm making an edit for 'the public' I like to add some steps:
4a. pre watch all footage (at least parts of each shot) and add some description to the filename (like 20171114-1312-intro) so I know what files to pick.
4b. Select the music that I want to add
4c. Add music to my timeline and insert markers on every 1st beat (so I know where to cut).
4d. Make a first edit without titles / effects and render to watch
4e. Watch the edit and make changes where needed
4f. Add titles and effects

5. make final edit and check for mistakes.

That way I can edit pretty fast.

Neat effect. Those using DaVinci Resolve 14 will find it on the Color Page under OpenFX >Resolve FX Stylize > Mirrors. Just drag it to a new serial node. Flipping the effect is cool too.

wow that's well organized workflow, I guess I'll have to implement some of your tips, which software do you use to edit your footage?
