Hi guys i just wanted to share my first paint job.. I have 2 inspire 1 and both are white.. I was looking for the black body online everywhere but i couldnt find anywhere. been a while i wanted my inpsire to be black cause i think it looks much better.. I was very scared to remove the whole body and paint it because im not use to play with electronics and i never painted anything in my life before.. Well i decided to take a chance and try it.. I removed all the body parts and and painted it in Black Matt and waited 20 hours to dry it and i just put everything back and it looks very nice and im very proud of my work. i made few mistakes.. when i had to put the gps wire back i couldnt reach so i unscrewed the GPS part and i pluged it and i put back only 2 screw and the other 2 screw im not able to reach.. if anyone here can show me the best way to do that it will be appriciated..

I took some pictures of few step when i was working and i also took a picture of the final result.(the battery is not dry yet so i put the original inspire 1 black battery till the battery i painted get dry so you will see a difference of the color) Hope you guys like it!

We don't suggest customer to disassembly or open shell by themselves, hope everything still works well.

Then why are you guys selling the parts on your website if we are not suppose to do it by our self? you guys are not even selling the black case so we have no choice to paint it by our self...anyway my drones are 2 years old and has no warranty if something happens im responsible i will try to fix it by my self if i cant then to bad i buy a new one

It's just a warm tip. If the drone has been out of warranty, sure you can do whatever you want.
Thanks for the support to DJI. Good luck.

fans5abca74f, I think you did a great job especially being the first time you ever painted anything!  NO clear coat! I would like to see you get those 2 screws back in there though. Try putting all of the screws back in and then try using some nice tweezers or a long nose pliers to plug the cable into the GPS. Safety First! Ken.

a matte clear would protect the black but since it matte clear would keep the same flat black appearance you have now.

as for the GPS plug. put all 4 screws in, then hold the body on the left side (when looking at nose of drone) with it in landing mode works better, then you can kinda twist the body down and get the plug. its tricky but can be done. then once plugged in carefully rotate and move the body back into place

I attempted the same about 1 year ago, I bought the paint, tools for disassembly and masking tape. I figured I would disassemble the batteries first. I popped the top off the first battery and in the process pulled a couple of wires out from deep inside the battery ruining it. Needless to say I still have a white inspire 1 Pro with one less battery and some extra paint.... nice job by the way....
