i am trying to update the firmware, first time user, can start the AC and controller, have downloaded the software and the update, connected phone to AC via wifi
but everytime i try to update the firmware i get " update error, device disconnected, please check.
so i check and still conntect to wifi, what else am i to check?

You're probably going to have to start again but this time try downloading DJI Assistant 2. Connect the AC to the PC or MAC then follow instructions there.

Don´t forget to go in to air data mode via Go app,else the DJI-Assistant software does not recognize the P3 series AC
