I took my Mavic Pro to the hills above Laguna Beach, California yesterday. It was perfect weather for flying, no wind at all. One flight was about 3 miles (1.5 each way), another 2 miles (flying around), and the big one, was 4.5 miles (2.25 miles each way). The longest flight had my heart pumping a little, as I was concerned that maybe I wouldn't make it back, but I crossed my landing pad with 44% battery, so flew around a bit more until I reached my usual Low Battery Warning at 40%!
Here's a video I put together of my afternoon flying... Laguna Beach, from Above:
Not so happy with my sunset footage or stills. This one is quite heavily post processed, but it doesn't really capture what I saw. I still kinda suck at color grading.
I had pretty good luck in Hawaii- Of course it's Hawaii, and ANYONE can capture a stunning Sunset, even with a cheap disposable cam. Good luck, with the heat we're about to be getting the Sunsets should really get colorful, how's your white balance?

I manually set white balance before takeoff/shooting video and stills, but at sunset and sunrise, the white balance is constantly changing anyway, so you'll always have to adjust/make an artistic decision in post.

I agree- Though I still have occasional issue with strong light transitioning to soft- I've been debating about adding a filter- Are you using any?

I used an ND4 filter, if I remember correctly. During the day, I usually fly with an ND16 pretty much permanently attached to the lens! I just got some PolarPro ND/PL filters, so might try them today.
