X7 Gimbal acting crazy after update

So DJI support announced just a few hours ago that the inspire 2 should be updated without the x7 attached.

Unfortunately this was not in the manual, nor was it in any previous instruction.

It is also not how we have been updating the firmware until now.

And so I updated the firmware WITH the x7 attached and now the gimbal is acting crazy, it doesn't start right, then it rotates brutally for 360 degres... then freezes in the wrong place and the motor overheats.

This is very frustrating and there is no solution offered by DJI Support.

Just received my I2 and X7 w/ lenses today... and I'm having the same exact issue!! Tried everything recommended in forums... factory reset, pull the batteries for 10 min, reinstall new firmware, etc.

Gulp this doesnt sound good, is this due to uploading at the same time with the craft as I have seen a few videos pop up on youtube with successful flights.

I have had the same problem, it has also got incredibly hot and damaged the Yaw motor, looks like it also has taken out the lens that was attached.
I have put my X5S back on and that is also behaving strange, it keeps re centring itself,

What do I do now? rollback the firmware?

Oh no, I was just ordering is everyone having this problem, I just had a dng sample sent to me from the air and it looks very very soft focus at 100%, prob worse than the x5

Congrats you have received X7, can you please upload the DNG to Dropbox or Google Driver and post the link here? We may help to look into it.

Hi Mindy I haven't received it yet but I have ordered so still waiting to test the sharpness, what I was saying is that another person had sent me a dng and its looked very soft and almost as bad as the original x5... I cant upload this as it's not mine, if the camera is that bad I will have to return it, I just hope the 16mm is sharp for $2199 AUD...

Hi Elektra,

I recently purchased the X7 and ran into exactly rhe same problem with other people from the thread “x7 gimbal acting crazy...”

I strictly inspect the gimbal & camera box for instruction but there was none. So what i did was same as when i got the x5s, just put the gimbal onto the inspire 2 and update firmware.

Now that my gimbal went crazy and could not finish initiate, though i can see picture from the camera anyway.

What should i do ? Please help.

Hi all, just got my x7 with lenses pack. Before installing, I updated the new firmware, went slow but with no issues. Than I mounted the x7 and all was good.
Before doing all the proses I made sure that my iPad and the go 4 was up to date. Did not fly yet to test everything, will report later.

I have same problem! I’ve attached X7 before updating firmware. Gimbal stuck to the left side, no control, overheat. I’ve already updated to the latest firmware.  No help.

Hi there,

Our team is filming in Alaska and they’ve just had the DJI X7 gimbal go down on them while doing a camera test. It’s not doing it’s calibration when it turns on, and the roll motor is getting incredibly hot (too hot to touch). There’s no override in DJI-GO. Any suggestions on how to sort this out, please?. Has anyone out there found this problem before and how to sort it out quickly?
