Hardware details :

Inspire 1 ver 1 with Zenmuse X5
AC firmware WM610_FW_V01.07.00.90

The Controller firmware exisiting ver 1.7.80 could not be rollback to 1.5.80 using the DJI Go App.
RC firmware upgraded 1.5.80 to 1.7.80 using DJI go App 3.1.22(iOS)
RC firmware rollback to 1.6 using dji go app showed success but RC still show 1.7. Tried like 8 times.
After 4 button reset on controller , Dji go app cannot show rollback firmwares.
Tried By long pressing the Graduation hat icon. the previous old versions were missing.
Tried using formated fat32 thumbdrive / SD card reader ,
Tried 3 buttons , 4 buttons reset , no sound change or blue light except for re-linking works though.

Used PC to format thumb drive & copied .bin files .Tried one firmware at a time,
tried various .bin files :  C1_FW_V01.05.0080 , C1_FW_V01.06.0000, RC_FW_V1.5.80 , C1_FW_V01.02.0021 , gs_ofdm.bin , WM610_FW_V01.06.00.40
Tried Using Dji go app 2.8.3 on Android  & Using Dji go app 3.1.22 on Ipad Air 2 . Both failed to rollback RC firmware to 1.5.80
After trying with C1_FW_V01.06.0000 on thumb drive got a result below.
Result: Aborted The firmware on the SD card is identical to or older than the current firmware on the remote controller.
After trying C1_FW_V01.05.0080 : Result below :
Aborted . The current firmware does not support downgrade. Use a different version of firmware to downgrade the target version.

tried opening up the case . jumped the Reset & Grd pins connectors on the PDB . there was a beep but it didn't worked.

Contacted DJI support, Result : firmware rollback is not  an option with the current latest firmware and kinda giving me no choice but to upgrade aircraft and camera to suit the  contoller version of 1.7.80. Or else COntroller cannot work because of the firmware version difference between Controller & Aircraft.

At this moment the  slave controller is the master. but still cannot pair the new slave because of firmware diffefence. new slave cannot locate new master controller but new slave can see video feed .  

Anyone has a solution ?

Those versions are from the working RC with version 1.5.80 which is now the new master connected to the Inspire 1.  The problem with  new RC 1.7.80 is that it cannot connect to the AC with firmware 1.6.00.40 . AC was stuck in Travel mode until I re-link the Slave as master.

Hey if you try yo upgrade or roll back with any IOS devive it will fail, try with a android device and it will work. let me know if it helps

Hello Sir, sorry to tell you that the v1.7.80 cannot be downgraded, please check the details in our release notes:
If you would like to use this RC, we recommend to update the firmware of the aircraft and the other RC to the latest version, please note to update the aircraft firstly.

It seems that you may have to send your AC and RC  to DJI for repair.

I updated to v1.7.80 on the RC first and now I can't update the AC, what can I do?  I tried rolling it back to a couple of earlier versions, it acted like the role backs worked, then I restarted the R/C but it won't connect to the A/C.  Then if I put v1.7.80 back, I can connect to the A/C and fly, but again, I still can't upgrade the firmware on the A/C.  Any suggestions?

What is the mode of your drone? Does it exit travel mode? What if the color of the indicator? Have you tried another Micro SD card? Please make sure you download the correct firmware.

Yep they've disabled 1.6 and 1.5.8 just last week.
